It's Jon Poole! He's probably one of my favorite musicians who play that thing with a short neck and six strings. Particularly with Cardiacs. He really does play everything well though.

I probably sound more like a guitar player than a bass player, probably because I'm more influenced by guitar players in a ideological way. But no one really tell me I sound like anyone, probably because I hit my bass more than I play it :). But as far as influences from bassists it Hugh Hopper...
