I agree with the idea that this fix is going to create more problems than it solves. If the bass can be played with the current string retainers and the strings stay within the nut, I would skip all of the efforts to straighten the headstock. Its too easy to break the headstock when it doesn't...

Are you sure that you bought the right jack? Most active basses need a stereo jack and the wiring has to be right to switch the battery in and out of the circuit. Your soldering job could be better. You may want to run this by a pro repair shop to be checked over.

I still have a rotary phone connected to my LAN line which is original to my house of 40 years. I have fun showing it to my grandkids and I had my wife call the LAN number from her cell so my grand daughter could answer the rotary phone. She thought it was awsome!

All Gibson two pickup guitars have this wiring that dumps the volume if either of the pickups is turned off. I don't like it for bass. You may have another opinion.

Bass pickups can fool your ears due to the nature of the bass frequencies. If you have both pickups at maximum volume, reducing one will cause the other be perceptively louder and dominate your tone. I think you have to work the switch on a Rick to isolate each pickup for a bass or treble sound.

Those spring loaded Jazz bass felt mutes were very unique to Fender Jazz basses. I don't think anybody copied that mute system bc it was hidden under the F plate bridge cover. The telltale sign of those mutes are the 4 screws or holes, that held the mutes in place. I think they were overkill...

The P-style pickup may be an original cream Dimarzio pickup that was painted black. It looks like the original cream color is peeking through! Have fun with your bass. Wild look from the 80's!

The bridge strip on the original 1960-61 Jazz bass was very thin and very unevenly cut. Because it was hidden under the F plate! The vintage reissues use a much wider strip that is cut very evenly. If you want yours to be closer to 1960; Make that strip about 25% of the width of the strip in...

An EB-2 is a very cool bass. That one is a stunner! Those nylon bridge saddles were only used circa 1968 and you can get the metal ones if you want to try a different sound although you probably won't hear much difference with the single humbucking pickup. I hope you have a lot of fun playing it.

The last recording I did was with an old Precision bass using flatwounds in the 70's. I liked the sound but I can't say that it was the best of any bass I have ever played.

Why don't you ask the guy who sold you the body- What happened to the neck for this bass? He might still have it with a broken truss rod or headstock. Maybe you can get it and fix it! I would look for another Peavey neck with that same attachment pattern, if you can't get the original. Good luck...

Yes, It is birdseye maple and a one-piece neck. The skunk stripe down the back of the neck indicates a one-piece neck when there is a maple finger board. MusicMan did not use separate fingerboards made of maple at that time. It appears to be a well played bass. Good luck with it.

The original Fender foam is very close to black-foam weather stripping as sold by Sears. I am sure that modern box stores have something similar.

A 1982-1983 Squire Precision is a close copy of a 1960 Precision and it has a wide C shape neck with a thin front to back profile. Made in Japan and of very good quality. They are not easy to find but they do fit the bill.

The basic issue is that your bridge is placed off-center to the neck. You may be able to counter this somewhat, by loosening the neck screws and pulling the neck towards the G string side to try to align it with the bridge and then tighten the neck screws. If that doesn't work you can try...
