NBD - MIJ Fender “Boxer” Fretless

Niiice! My P-neck one is my absolute favorite bass I've ever put hands on and I've put hands on a fair few over the years.

    Band Goals For 2022??

Joined a band for the first time in 5-6 years last month, it's punk so it's easy and fun which is exactly what I was looking for after only being in fairly technical metal bands/projects. I'm hoping we can start to play out and start working on some originals next year.

NBD - MIJ Fender “Boxer” Fretless

The reason I ask is that some of the earlier ones with the black necks were actually p-width while still being slimmer and it's my absolute favorite neck of all time. My slightly newer fretless and the reissue both have the narrower nut width as they are more known that way.

NBD - MIJ Fender “Boxer” Fretless

Oooh, with that serial is this a P-width neck? My first fretted JBS is P-width while my fretless and the reissue are both the narrower width.

Why you don't cheap out on gig bags (warning - disturbing pictures)

Ooooh those cream pickups look so good in there!

What are the cons of PJs, or: Why don’t you have a PJ?

I love the PJ setup. On my fretted ones I spend most of my time with both dimed and tone at 80-100%. My fretless I dial a little more nuance in there. They're not more or less versatile than anything else, they just fit my playing dynamic and make it really easy to get the tone I like in the...

They don’t send reusable codes, that person is talking about keeping the same phone number and receiving codes via text. 2FA is generally available via text, email or app so no, you are not required to possess a smartphone for the rest of your life. That being said app based is becoming more...

Fender Jazz Special...what am I missing?

Setup is a big part of it too! When I bought my fretless it felt like crap, though the neck profile felt 'right'. Got some new strings and went through my setup routine and now it just feels like a fretless version of my other two. Good luck with your bass! If you don't get on I'm sure there...

Fender Jazz Special...what am I missing?

Gonna reply to a few of your things but just chose this one to quote. Definitely try new strings and a setup first, super old dead strings (most used basses) can make anything sound like crap unless they're nice flats. I've never played stock pickups, but my love of these basses is all feel...

Good call on waiting for Monday! I can't say I've had any issues with Teams on multiple devices, sometimes even switching from phone to computer on the same meeting, but we also don't currently have 2FA in my workplace. I can say that we've seen some odd stuff from Teams in the past so you...

5 string basses should be 35” scale

My Sterling SUB 5 is the best playing 5er I've ever put hands on. I sold it, then bought it back with a Duncan 3-band Stingray preamp installed and now it sounds beastly to match!

BL wants me to pick one bass and stick with it

That's a big old hard no from me. You can suggest changes to my tone all you want if you're after something a little different. By no means is anyone okay to make changes to my gear without running it by me first.

Yeah the physical devices are kind of like the super-secure version that nowadays we're essentially turning our phones into. Physical devices are still in use here and there. It is technically possible for calls/texts to be intercepted and rerouted, though not super likely. It would only be a...
