I'm not a band, or strictly speaking in one. I'm more of a freelancer. My goal for 2022 is more gigs. As I play in churches almost exclusively, I'm booked every Sunday I'm not on vacation, and there are only so many Sundays, this seems like a foolhardy goal. Yet, looking at my bookings for the first 3 months of next year, I'm meeting that goal - some middle of the week stuff is already booked.

Band Goals For 2022??

We are an original band (www.lidauna.com/music) that hasn't played a live show in almost 2 years now. With mask mandates, people just aren't going out. We don't want to play just to play.
So last year we released our 6th CD. But let's face it, no one has a CD player, unless people know to look you will never be heard on Spotify. So we started to do basement concerts on Facebook live.

I'd just like to find a band comprised of sane individuals that want to do covers, not originals
Not getting COVID. Two of the three guys in my band are pushing 70. I'm the young punk. We are playing out, we shall see what happens.
One band (in which I play guitar) has our first gig in February! yay. I hope the momentum continues (and the bassist gets vaccinated).
My former "main" band hasn't had a rehearsal since Feb 2020. I hope we start playing again in 2022.
My "worship" band is a brand new startup, still learning material and figuring out how to work and rehearse together in a covid-safe way. I am having fun with it, and it's my only "regular" weekly rehearsal at this point. I hope things keep coming together and that we are able to perform for the whole congregation in 2022.
And there is an instrumental jazz/funk group which has had personnel changes and which my hopes have run out for, I don't think it's the right fit for me so... I hope they take it well if/when I quit. They're nice people.

Currently I play in worship bands. I love it and have branched out into multiple instruments this past year, adding lead guitar and fingerstyle acoustic to my bass playing.
For 2020 2 (2022 sounds like 2020: The Sequel) I think I'd like to get involved in the local music scene more, play out more, maybe join a band. I'd also like to maybe start recording some of my own stuff.

I want the cover band to play some gigs this year. Or at least a combination of the members. Our singer is pretty busy with work and they have a “solo” project (backing tracks and sometimes one of the guitar players) that takes up a lot of time. They’ve said no to a couple of gigs and when presented to the booking agent as a quartet without the lead singer they usually say no. One of the guitar players and I can pull together 3 sets of material that we can sing but it’s not the same as with the singer.
I am also trying to get a jazz trio going this year. I realized how much I love playing jazz and missed it. I’ve booked a gig in January. Let’s hope it doesn’t get Covid-cancelled.

Ive found the group always found that really helpful.
The new band is just a couple months old. But we have 7 songs written and while most are played without problems at this point, the nuances are still evolving.
I hope to have an album at least worth of material by the end of 2022 and some videos. That shouldn't be hard at all to attain.
I suppose we will need to settle on a name. The Google Drive folder is still called ‘TBD band.’
As far as gigs, we could supplement with covers easy (or originals from prior two groups I was in with these guys respectively) and have a set quickly but no body seems interested in that and pandemic.
May just do some live streams.

Our setup is pretty complicated. Playing festivals with 20-30 mins to setup was something we’re still getting better at. Would like to develop a ‘plug and play’ solution by the end of 2022.
We are bringing on 14 new songs with the new year. We have 6 ready early and will play them New Years Eve.
Other than that, we won the BestOf 2021 award in our city. Would like to win it again in 2022.

Band is morphing a bit and looking forward to see how it pans out. My CO-BL is involved with another band that requires the majority of his time, so he's looking at a "hired gun" type of position in the new effort. Hoping to continue improving my theory background and singing. With COVID, there's more time for personal work in the studio so I'm hoping to make the best of it. We're keeping to covers, close enough but basically our versions without losing the original song. Best to all in 2022...
I'm working as part of a couple of projects at the moment. I'll list them and what my goals with them are.
1. An indie rock/punk-type trio of which I am a founding member: We did quite well at the beginning of this year once I sat down and decided to be the manager for the band. Got us a couple of really nice gigs, including some small festival slots. I made some industry friends and we recorded a single. I wanted to continue gigging but the singer/guitarist wanted to pump the brakes and write some more stuff. This didn't happen due to COVID and the fact that he lives in a diff town (we all originate from there but the drummer and I moved away), so I let go of the reigns during lockdown. I've got two gigs booked for us in 2022 - one community festival and a government grant funded gig that I managed to get. On top of that I'd like to record two demos that I've been working on. Other than that, we'll see what else comes up. I'll remain hands-off.
2. A four piece jazz/funk group: We normally get together once every year to play a christmas party, and have been writing some new stuff recently. We hope to get at least one gig in the summer (before everyone travels away for uni) and get some recording of these originals done. The keyboardist also needs bass for a surf film soundtrack he's made, so I'll be tracking for that as well.
3. New project: I've just contacted a friend from uni to see if they'd be keen to jam as a duo with a drum machine. I sent them a bunch of demos that I've been writing this year, and thankfully they said yes. I'm really excited to finally have a project in my city of residence with someone that is as hungry as me to rehearse and play as many times as possible. So this project will take up my "main" band slot, and I'll put the most work into it to organise recordings and gigs.
Outside of those three, I have a couple of compositions to record and put out, on top of any other projects that I am approached with. I guess my plan is to gig as much as possible, both in the studio and on the stage!!

Since we solidified our lineup in March of 2020, we've cut a 4 track EP (three originals, one cover) and even with Covid we managed to play a half dozen + shows.
For 2022 we're branching out and learning a bunch of new cover tunes that span a wide variety anywhere from the 70's to the 90's (Zep, Stones, Slayer, STP etc.... ) and we're hoping to play once a month at some of the larger venues around here.

At this point, I'd just like to get to the point where all 4 band members give a crap again, and maybe play a few gigs. 2020-21 were pretty rough for us. We only had one gig in 2020, in August when Covid was pretty much gone and we thought everything was going back to normal. We were down a guitarist because his wife was due any second to have a baby, so we made it work as a 3 piece. About a month after that, we had a gig lined up for a guy's 40th birthday party, drummer's cousin (70-100 people). Guitarist with the baby still couldn't make it, and our other guitarist / co-lead singer (I am the other lead singer) couldn't make it that night either. So we ended up not playing, and drummer simply played the role of DJ for the party. Things kind of fizzled from there, once the pandemic ramped back up in the fall of 2020/winter 2021.
In fact, we only got together and practiced once in all of 2021!!! We're all still friends, and we've all spent time together socially. I personally haven't touched an instrument in months. I am extremely uninspired lately. We all are. We've decided we are going to get back to practice in a couple weeks, and I am going to be extremely rusty! I was at a bar/restaurant we used to play last night, talking to the owner. She said we could play there every month at their outdoor stage once the weather gets nice. The problem is, they can't afford to pay bands anymore. We don't really do it for the money, we all have careers. So I said as long as you can give us a little something to cover costs so that we don't have to PAY TO PLAY, we're not worried about money. Plus the tip jars usually fill up pretty well at this place. My only real goals for 2022.

Everything was going well, we had our first and only gig early March 2020. Two weeks after that the entire country went into COVID lockdown and we couldn't rehearse for 6 months because our rehearsal venue had to close. We also had a few other gigs lined up for that year but all of them got cancelled.
We exchanged some ideas and concepts online but it really sucked that we had no place to play together. When the venue was finally allowed to open again our drummer decided to quit due to work-related obligations. In the end it was for the better because he was kinda holding us back (we wanted to rehearse every week but he could only make it every 2 weeks). So the search for a new drummer had begun... And we were a little too eager to take the first guy who offered himself. He's a good guy with decent technique, but it turned out he had no discipline whatshoever (almost always late to rehearsal, didn't learn the songs etc.). So we had to let him go after a couple of months.
So... The good news is that we hired a new drummer last October and he's pretty amazing. Motivated, skilled and disciplined, exactly what we needed. The future was looking bright.... and then everything in the Netherlands had to close again due to COVID restrictions. Sigh...
So yeah, in general our goal is to write a big setlist (we got about an hour worth of original material now) and play gigs around our region. We're all hoping the COVID situation will improve the next spring/summer so we can finally do what we were trying to do 2 freaking years ago. Despite of everything, everyone is still motivated and eager keep going so I'm really happy about that.
Band two (stoner/doom metal, 3 piece, originals):
Three stoner/doom enthousiasts who just like to jam once a month or so. We recorded a couple of sessions, still trying to give it some structure. It's not my primairy focus at the moment but we're having a lot of fun doing it.
As for 2022 goals; actually write a couple of tracks, maybe find a vocalist if the opportunity presents itself. Maybe record a demo, maybe do a few gigs. We'll see where time will take us.

2022 goals? May be starting/joining a new band or re-inventing myself again, .
Have had a great 10 year run playing/managing an oldies trio but the guitarist /fellow singer is 74, can't see well & Father time seems to be catching up w/him.
Found a capable fill-in (2) years ago but he & the oldies trio main drummer have seemed to develop a musical "bromance" and want to devote their energy to a classic rock quartet w/me and their guitar/keys playing buddy, sorry it's boring & not unique..
They also insist on practicing at the drummers home, a 40 min drive for me on a clear day, For the other members it's 15 minutes. When it becomes a chore it's time to change..
