Of all the basses I've owned, I still have 8. The two I no longer have are a 1979 Peavey T-40, and a 1984ish Ibanez X Series Def Leppard model. Traded the Peavey in 1980 for the Dan Armstrong I still have. Sold the Ibanez in the late 1990s.

I can't remember them all, but do have them saved in my Google cloud! I've owned over three dozen total, ten currently. I've been playing for over four decades, and it's reflected in the collection: started with Fender/MM, went to Jackson/Hamer for my metal phase, switched back to Fender/MM, changed over to 5 string in Y2K, and after auditioning quite a few fivers to figure out what I like, I now mostly own customs that are Fender-Shaped Objects, with a few being boutiques: Sadowsky, Keith, Zon.
I've only had 4 in 23 years. (7 if you count the 3 that were returned within a week.)
#1: a $100 Squier P.iece of junk bass for the longest time.
Got an Ibanez from GC but it was back-bowed and it turned out I couldn't ever play it at my new apartment, so I returned it and got an acoustic, which was also back-bowed and had terrible intonation, so returned it. Broke the lease on the place and moved into a van and got
#2: a Breedlove acoustic/electric, $700. I played it hard for 3 years but it was too much for my hands. And I eventually had to sell all my amps & guitars when I was homeless.
I didn't have a bass or guitar from 2013-2020. Then, last year I got
#3: Gretsch Electromatic Junior Jet II short scale bass, $255. It's my favorite bass I've owned.
This year I got the first 5 string I've ever played, a Schecter Stiletto Stealth 5, but FedEx damaged it and I don't know if mine was defective, but it sounded like crap, had incurable fret buzz, and the attack on the D & A strings was strange, sounded like a buzzy upright. The treble distorted severely in the electronics. So that got returned. Then I got the second of the 2 basses I currently own,
#4: Yamaha TRBX505, $530. It's good. I filed the nut to put a Newtone .146T with a Blue Steel .105-.045 set for drop-A. With these and a Blackstar U250 it's finally sounding good.

My biggest regret? Selling the Alembic, which I did back in 2003. The 2nd biggest regret is probably the Clarke Spellbinder Bass, which was one of the most unbalanced instruments I've ever played. Extremely neck-heavy with an almost razor-thin body and weak electronics made it virtually unplayable, standing or sitting. It seems to be extra-rare these days too.

Been playing for two decades (since i was 7 years old) - I remember every bass that has been in my household (either my dad's or mine)
- Gibson Les Paul Triumph w/3 point bridge, yellowed due to smoky bars (Dad's he sold it off sadly early in my life)
- Gibson Ripper bass 1977-78, all black (Dad's, he sold it due to faulty wiring always coming undone)
- First issue Jay Turser Violin beatle bass (dad's, i've played it a handful of times, eventually sold)
- Squier Affinity Pbass Arctic white, rose board, pak (my first bass guitar - traded it later. Wish i still had it though)
- Ibanez GaxB medium scale black finish, rose board (Got in Trade for above bass, still own)
- Gibson Blackbird Nikki Sixx model (Dad's, sold off later on)
- Eastwood Black/maple/maple pbass copy (The one that got me back into playing seriously, owned since 2007-08. Mostly studio bass since 2014)
- Jay turser 2nd gen Violin bass (dad's, again sold off later on)
- Epiphone Goth Thunderbird (owned since 2011, modified extensively, currently painted red with black tree graphic all around, killswitch wiring)
- Logical Rickenbacker 4001/03 copy (owned since 2011, gift from my dad, wired as a rick w/vintage push pull switch. stock wilkinson pickups)
- Parts Cream/maple/rose pbass copy nicknamed Sheena (Extensively upgraded over the years, current main bass since 2014)
- Goya Studio 76 Pbass copy black/maple/maple (bought in 2016, sanded the black finish & left it wood colour with varnish, upgraded electronics/hardware. Sold to a friend - my eastwood sounded the same, & i prefered its feel over this one)
- Squier Mike Dirnt 2nd gen white/rose pbass (bought in 2016-17, was part of a green day tribute band, sold it in 2017-18 to fund studio gear)

- 70's fiesta pbass copy sunburst/maple (had a mini humbucker which sounded nice, gave to a friend who needed a bass
- Squier 2005-2008 Standard series p/j bass (bought the body loaded, got the neck from my drummer, refinished in pumpkin Orange, upgraded the pickups/guard/hardware/electronics. Currently in my drummer's possession, still mine however)
- Dan armstrong plexi bass (China) (Subsequently built a new short scale neck for it, swapped the pickup/electronics/bridge/guard - currently own)
- 1970's Maya Grabber bass copy (bought for me by the singer/guitarist of the green day tribute, minor mods tuning keys/output jack/nut, currently own)
- Yamaha BB300 1985 (bought this past year, did some fretwork & minor repairs, sold it after a few months - was a cool bass, tonally sat between my eastwood pbass & the Maya Grabber)
- Jay turser Violin bass 3rd gen (Currently my dad's, though he's passing it down to me, after receiving the one i built for him - which is a tribute/inspired by gene simmons' Lobue bass. Sad to say, the lobue bass dwarfs the violin bass + he hasn't played it in the last couple years)
This next portion is all my builds i've done, all of which i currently own, except for two
- Grabber bass copy nicknamed Green Ghoul (My first ever build - green sparkle finish, sliding ebo pickup, currently own)
- Oversized spector/b.c. Rich esque thunderbird nicknamed Tigerbird (2nd build for myself, sports 80's-90's era EMG reverse P/J pickups, killswitch only, blowtorch tiger stripe finish)
- 60's Ibanez bass Nicknamed SuperNova (only had the neck left of this vintage bass, built a new 60's japan vibe body, painted by a friend with my blow up moon design, space themed, tv jones thunder'tron wired direct to the output, short scale bass).
- 70's Inspired Heavy Ash/maple/maple Pbass Nicknamed the Brat (tribute to Paul Simonon aesthetically with rasta splatter guard, body built, neck was bought off ebay & subsequently modified)
- Grabber G3 copy (Built this from recycled parts i had lying around from various mods of other basses, gave to singer/guitarist of the former Green day tribute band)
- Mike dirnt style pbass copy (Again built from recycled parts i had lying around. This felt & played better than the squier i owned before this one. Also gave to the guitarist of green day tribute)
- 60's psychedelic inspired Bass VI nicknamed So Be it (after a few months compiling notes from current bass VI on the market, i built my own. Single guitar humbucker, 3 way toggle switch wired with a choke for a bass boost or bartione cut, or natural guitar humbucker - painted by my friend who painted SuperNova)
- Eb-2D style medium scale bass nicknamed Goldie (Flat top/back, schaller 3d bridge, white rail guitar pickups, 3way toggle for full hum/off/split on each pup, big bass, 19 frets, still in finishing phase for actual paint/stain)
- Ripper bass copy Nicknamed Beast (This became a signature bass for me - being a taurus - there's a bullshead on the big headstock, the zodiac sign on the 12th fret, the constellation on the rear of the bass body. Sports Wilde L90 pickups, 4 position rotary switch, volume/mid choke/tone)
- Yamaha BB300 active build (though i sold the original, i did template the body shape, & had a neck lying around. There's a lot about the BB neck which is in this neck i'm using for this build, & i'll be putting a nordstrand 2 band boost/cut preamp, reverse non brand split pickups - being painted by same friend, going for a fire/water theme)
