I had one. Then switched to drums. Then my wife began playing bass. She started with the one I had, and over the course of time I bought her 5 more. On a total of six, we still have five at home.

So, long story short...yes LOL

Ironically the only one we got rid of was a disgusting, terrible Epiphone Thunderbird I don't even want to remember I spent some money for.

Four of those are here, my very first one (Yamaha RBX170) is not pictured.

not even close. I saw a video of a band I was in back in the early 80's with an amp I had no recollection of ever owning , kind of remembered the amp head but the cab .....no clue ( not same manufacturer)

I was talking with a friend of mine who also plays bass but has only owned a few basses over his time playing and he was amazed that I can still name every bass I've ever owned. I've owned 28 in total over the past 29 years, I feel like that means I need to buy one more so I can have had one for every year I've played, haha!

I've been a TalkBass member since 2003, so I've always kept up the current setup and previously owned gear sections on my profile, which helps!

Pretty easy for me. In the 56-years I've been playing bass I've had a total of 4 and still have 2 of them. They were:

• Piece of Japanese bass with no logo or name on the headstock. Bought in 1965 for $40.
• 1965 Jazz Bass. Bought in 1966 for $175. Was stolen in 1976 along with all my touring gear.
• 1982 white-bound maple neck Jazz Bass with 70's era pickup spacing. Bought in mint condition in 1985 although the shop removed the unused chrome pickup covers and sold them separately. Got a crazy good price because I worked at the shop but not at liberty to disclose actual price.
• Rogue LX405 Pro (made in Korea) 5-string that is actually beautifully built and finished. Sound's OK but I only use it when I would otherwise have to down-tune my Jazz. Bought it in 2009 for $219.

Still use the '82 Jazz and the Rogue LX405 Pro (not the pro II or Pro III)

I was talking with a friend of mine who also plays bass but has only owned a few basses over his time playing and he was amazed that I can still name every bass I've ever owned.

I've got just two basses, and they're relatively recent (within the last five years), so that's not a problem.

OTOH, I have over 50 guitars (*still owned*) and can tell you brands, models and even whether pickups or other hardware are non-original and what's in them now. No big deal.

I can't remember what I got my wife for Christmas, though, nor where I hid it.

Yeah. Easy.

• (briefly) A short-scale SG bass copy, make unknown.
• A 1978 Fender P, Sunburst (only bass for years and years, still own)
• A Vintage brand Jazz bass copy, fretless.

The main bass I used during the mid-2000s was a Tokai Jazz Sound bass from the late 70s/early 80s but it was on long-term loan. Nice bass*.

*Probably- I only have the above to compare it to. I liked it anyway.

No, and I've only gone through about 20 or so lifetime. So there is a one pickup Rick and a 70's Gibson (Grabber, Ripper, whatever) that I can't name the model, can't even id (unless of course I find a picture of me and the bass, which I believe doesn't exist).
