    The Official Eastwood Bass Club

Does anyone here play rounds on a Hi-Flier, Sidejack Pro, or any of Eastwood's Mosrite-inspired basses? I didn't like the strings that came on mine, but I don't want to put flats on it. I'm not going for a bright tone, just some of the definition/edge rounds provide. I did try half-rounds but...

    Thunderbird Club

Sure, I'd love a club number! I got mine from Sweetwater too -- I guess they missed it, or the pickups shifted during shipping. I'll probably wait until my first string change to address it, it doesn't seem to be affecting the sound too much.

    Thunderbird Club

Just got my first Thunderbird! Couldn't resist the Inverness Green. I'm still getting used to the ergonomics, but I love the sound. Quick question -- the neck pickup came tilted a little forward, and the bridge pickup a little backward, like so (light wasn't good for photos but I did my best)...

Could you say more about the neck angle change? I've heard the some people prefer the angle on the Vintage Pro, but it's hard to find much discussion. Does it make a big difference for sound/playability?

Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Four)

I have a 32" Cardinal, and the GHS medium scales fit perfectly, and they've got a wide range of strings. Right now I've got a set of regular Super Steels on, and once they mellowed out just a little bit, I thought they were great, though I'm tempted to compare with some Bass Boomers at some point.

Aria & Aria Pro II Club (Part Four)

Hi everyone -- just got a CSB-380 on Reverb, plenty of cosmetic damage but everything working and sounding great. This is my first Aria Pro II, and the one question I have is about the tone knob, which sticks up much farther than the volume knob: The knob works, but is it supposed to be this...

    TV Jones ThunderMag and ThunderBlade

Haha, I had totally forgotten that even output was why I had chosen the bridge pickup! I now remember that the unevenness with the original pickup was why I swapped it out in the first place.

    TV Jones ThunderMag and ThunderBlade

I've got a Fender Cabronita bass with a ThunderBlade bridge pickup. I really like the sound, but I can't help but wonder sometimes if I should have gone with the neck pickup. Has anyone compared them, and is there an appreciable difference in sound?

    Metallic ringing with rounds

Hi everyone, I'll try to get my recording interface set up and see how it sounds. I kind of knew that would be best, but I was hoping there would be One Weird Trick to solve everything! To answer another question, these are standard (SS, 45-105) Rotosounds. For what it's worth, I don't THINK...

    Metallic ringing with rounds

That's what I thought it was too -- but how come I never hear these on recordings or at live performances? Are they just drowned out in the context of a full-band performance? For example, besides going to live shows (where it's too noisy to hear something like this), I never hear these...

    Metallic ringing with rounds

I have a basic question about rounds, based on a problem I've had with them on any bass (right now I have them on a CIJ Jaguar). Basically, especially on the E string, I always hear a metallic ringing above the fundamental of the note and whatever texture (growl, punch, whatever) the...

Help identify this bass (David Alan Eadie backing Stan Rogers)

Mostly just idle curiosity, but I found myself wondering what bass David Alan Eadie was playing on Stan Rogers's "Between the Breaks ... Live!". Unfortunately, the bass is mostly shrouded in darkness on the cover, and I was only able to find one other picture of him playing it (at least, it...

    The Official Eastwood Bass Club

How would you compare the tone of the Pyramids to TI jazz flats? I liked the TIs because even though they were warm, they still had some texture to them, especially the E string. I'm curious about the Pyramids but afraid they'll be too warm/dark (I love McCartney's sound but don't want it to be...

    The Official Eastwood Bass Club

Wish I had seen your posts sooner! I just got through trying a million different strings to find ones that fit the Classic 4 perfectly. There are plenty of long-scale sets that fit, but you end up with part of the sounding part of the E string wrapped around the peg (long scale TI jazz flats...

    The Official Eastwood Bass Club

Those of you who own a Classic 4, what strings have you found that fit the bass perfectly? I don't mean in terms of tone, I mean winding length, where you don't end up with the sounding part of the E string wrapped around the tuning peg. I know that's not the end of the world -- that's how I...
