TV Jones ThunderMag and ThunderBlade

I've had both in my Cabronita. The bridge version, w/ curved blades, allows for even output across the strings. The goal for most, I would presume. But since all my other basses have flat pickups which emphasize the E & G strings, my longtime preference, I switched to the neck version to keep the continuity.
Haha, I had totally forgotten that even output was why I had chosen the bridge pickup! I now remember that the unevenness with the original pickup was why I swapped it out in the first place.

Not sure what’s going on for your setup, but I have not found these pickups to be dark at all.
Just revisiting this. I was looking at replacing this pickup with the Mag, but I decided to check my wiring before dropping money. It turns out I had my stacked pot wired wrong. Not sure how or why. I successfully changed it over to standard P-bass vol/tone setup and the pickup gained bass and treble response that was only mid-heavy before. Much happier with this sound!

It's certainly a more mid forward pickup, but not dark. I'm glad I revisited your posts and watched the Serek demo video. What I was hearing just didn't match everything else I was seeing.

The reason it has a Thunder'tron label is because it is the same pickup, wound the same way, with the same blades.

The ThunderBlades & Super'Trons are the same pickup, except different housing. Thunder'Trons have poles, not blades.

Actually, the ThunderBlades & Super'Trons are the same pickup, except different housing.

Starting a fresh TV Jones thread. Anyone else using them? I've been using ThunderBlades in my Lakeland HOBO for a while now, but just replaced the bridge with a ThunderMag. Going to try it out at practice tonight but love it at home.

Man! I am finally going to get my hands on a lakland hollowbody. I have these thundermags I planned to put iny dangelico ex bass, but am considering putting them in the lakland. You're clearly the person to ask... How do you like it and how do they compare to what you had on there already which I'm assuming was barts? Mine will have barts. Thanks!

I thought that they were just okay. For the Lakland hollowbody they just weren't as full as I felt like I wanted them to be. I'm not sure exactly why. What I ended up with, ultimately, was a serek B90 in the bridge position and a 916 Pickups Darkstar in the neck position.
