Help identify this bass (David Alan Eadie backing Stan Rogers)

Mostly just idle curiosity, but I found myself wondering what bass David Alan Eadie was playing on Stan Rogers's "Between the Breaks ... Live!". Unfortunately, the bass is mostly shrouded in darkness on the cover, and I was only able to find one other picture of him playing it (at least, it looks like the same bass to me):

In the second image, it kind of looks like a Gibson headstock to me, but I can't find any Gibson with horns like that. Anyone?

I had the same question. To me the closest thing is a Black Gibson Les Paul Bass. Check this video out

It's got the same shape, white binding, metal-ish pickups. The only thing that still confuses me is what he has on his headstock. It looks like the Gibson logo but I can't find that swirly design (that is assuming it's stock).

I love his bass tone on The Idiot.

An RD Artist bass, specifically: it had the headstock decoration thingy, plus, in the pic I copypasted here, one can see the faint shine of one switch behind the bridge and of the output jack. Both the switch and the heastock inlay were present on the Artist

but not on the RD Standard bass, which also had a control knob at that jack socket location, and the latter at a different spot.

See above. However, there does seem to be something round and clear stuck to the upper non-horn (bout?), where a Les Paul pickup selector would be.
Did he have one added up there? If I had one I'd leave the electronics well enough alone, but who knows?
Or is it an adhesive pick holder, perhaps? Were those already a thing, back then?


On related news, what was Jim Morison playing here?

Something native maybe? possibly a Lado?

I found this video of an RD Artist and it has this very large cavity for electronics. Could totally see the appeal the put a switch up top there with that kind of easy access.

Those guys are from the Great White North so I’d guess the bass in the video might be a Lado.

I love seeing pics of Garnet Rogers when he still had his hair

I never saw Stan before he passed but I heard him a lot on the folk radio shows here in the US. He was a great writer. I think Harris and the Mare might be my favorite, but there are so many other gems in his catalog.
