    one more comment on this zombie thread!! If you swap the G string and D string position, the D would become louder than the G proving the pickup is designed that way............;)

    The 51 Pbass was sold with the 51 Pro Amp with a 15 inch speaker. The the bassman wasn't sold until 1952 also with a 15 " speaker.

    Just for reference the Audiovox 736 came with round wound strings: 35 45 58 68 and the ferrules were small like on guitar strings. the bass string ferrules of today won't fit on the Audiovox.

    The 1951 Fender Precisions were all paired with 1951 Pro Amps. The Bassman didn't come out until the middle of 1952. :)

    AMV II 54 Precision Bass - Pickguard

    This 51 bass has had both an original 51-54 pickguard and a 54-57 pickguard on it. notice the screw hole in the top middle of the upper edge has actually been moved to fit the 54-7 pickguard

    Eilif, look closely that is not aluminum, that is one large piece of hand carved Walnut it is amazing craftsmanship. unless you are talking about the pedal steel front side. that is some kind of fake grain early prototype Art Stimson pickups
