The closest I could come is about seven years ago a thread came up asking who owns a bass built in the year of their birth. I looked up what was available in 1949, the only one was an AudioVox that was the first true fretted electric solid body bass created in 1936 by Paul Tutmarc, the 736. Very rare and if one could be found, very expensive. So I decided to have one of my solid body Hadean bass ukes modified by Eric's Guitar and painted by Pat Wilkins to look like the 736. It came out great, but I let it go last year with 30 other of my bass ukes/mini bass guitars, replaced by 14 recently. So now all my basses are way newer.

My pre-CBS Fender Jazz Bass is MUCH older than I am. I play it out on local gigs whenever possible. I would not take it on the road.
I don't personally know anyone who tours with expensive vintage gear, but saw a video with Billy Gibbons' guitar tech claiming he once toured with several '59 Les Pauls, about a million dollars' worth at the time.

I'm a 1958 model. A bass that age would be a classic.

proof that some things are classic and some things are just old
I was about to say pretty much the same thing. Born in 1958 and my oldest would be from the early 60s
