    Tips for aligning tuners?

To fix the small amount of play in the holes for the tuners, wrap the threaded bushing with foil tape to make it nice and snug. Worked for me when I put ultralites on my Jag SS. As for lining up the tuners, I used a ruler and made several small adjustments until it looked just right. :bassist:

Dumb j-bass single coil grounding question

I'm thinking the same thing. Nice job on shielding the pickups and control area but because the control plate doesn't make contact with the copper in the control area, it's not fully shielded. Here's a good video that shows how the copper tape should done in the control area. BTW...

    replacing MIM Jazz Bass bridge

I meant not easy to find at music stores like Guitar Center or online stores like allparts.com. If you can find one on ebay from a good seller then that's cool. I would recommend getting the grooved saddle version.

    replacing MIM Jazz Bass bridge

Yes. The BadAss II bass bridge will fit on a MIM Jazz Bass with no drilling. It uses the 5 screws that mount the standard bridge. I have a 1995 MIM Jazz Bass and I put on a BadAss II bridge on it because I wanted more sustain and a solid feel that the stock bridge didn't have. It was just...

Anyone tried Hipshot tuners on an SG?

I had the same problem when I replaced the stock tuners on my Squier Jaguar SS. The new Hipshot tuners were a little too small as the pegholes are just a bit bigger for the stock tuners so to help the fit, I wrapped the threaded bushing with foil tape to make it nice and snug.

String won't stay in nut slot

I agree with Immigrant about avoiding GC and/or Sam Ash but sometimes you can get lucky and find someone who knows what they are doing. When you go there, don't just drop off your bass. Ask to see the person who will be working on it. If that person knows what they're doing, they'll see the...

How much string do you wrap on the tuning peg?

2 wraps on the E string, 4 to 5 wraps on the A string, and 2 to 3 wraps on the D and G strings. That's how I setup my 2 Fenders and 1 Squier. :bassist:
