Any reason not to learn on a Lakland Skyline 44-51?

A good amp and a cheap bass will give you far better tone than a good bass and a cheap amp will.

    Stock Nitro Basses

Finish might make a difference with acoustic instruments, but bass guitars are electric... Also resonance is a bad thing. That kills your sustain, wood is meant to deflect vibrations of the string so the string will keep going. Any vibration that gets absorbed by the body and neck is...

I'd normally say tort but, with a maple fretboard I have to say keep the black. Just get some cream pickup covers. :bassist:

Guitarists Who Don't Understand What the Bass Player Does....

I started on bass and played bass for about 5 or 6 years before I had a go at guitar. I had been in a band as a bass player and later on I joined another in which I play guitar. Both bands I've benefited greatly from being in the other role. Plus you can chat about gear with each other. I play...

    Fender Performer Build

so what do these sound like? Jazz basses? Or more like 51 pbasses? I am guessing a bit of both since they are probably more like 51 pbass pickups but in jbass locations. Or do they just sound completely different all together? hate 80s and pointy guitars but these are cool I'd have one.

Shipping a bass from the US to Australia?

due to the free trade between australia and the US as far as I know import duties do not apply on goods made in the USA (such as the basses I imported). All I believe I had to pay was GST. Information was correct to the best of my knowledge. This was like 3 years ago.

I have had good dealings with DHL. I've imported two basses from the US, both in hard cases and it was about $250 in shipping fees I think. as for import fees I must get lucky, both cost about about 1500 including shipping and I have never had to pay import fees or GST. Never even been...

first real attempt at pedal graphics

lucky these lazy hole cuts will be hidden by washers and knobs. I've been educated on a better way of colour matching too which I'm looking forward to trying. I now have a photoshop template file in which I will print the drilling templates as well as the graphics so in future all the holes will...

first real attempt at pedal graphics

I bought some new decal paper and some decent clear coat and my first attempt turned out perfect. turns out old decal paper and cheap clear coat isn't a good idea but I had nothing to lose but old decals and cheap clear coat.
