Pickguard suggestions.. Squier VM P bass

OK, so I have this Squier VM P Bass that I picked up on the cheap. I like it But I think I would like to change the pickguard. It is currently black. I would like something different that is not tort.

Any suggestions?
This is the bass in question. I am having trouble visualizing what might look good on this bass since it is a natural finish.

I would leave it with the black pickguard. I think it looks great as is!

Sure, change it so it isn't just the same old same old.
I see people who don't like the white pickguards their bass came with and they want to change it to black, people who don't like black and want to change it to white, etc.
You might try pickguardparadise...they make some unusual pickguards.

I'm thinking about the bottom one on a Blizzard White P bass, but the black marble would look good on yours.

Actually if no red tort, then as some have mentioned, black is the best other option. Take a look at these other natural finish with other colors. White pearl doesn't look right.

I have a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz bass in natural finish and I replaced the stock black pick guard with a tortoise shell pick guard from Squire. Give them a call, the customer service is excellent. They will try to match it to your serial number. If I remember correctly, it came to about $22 including shipping via USPS. My guitar looks great now.

I would agree, I think the black PG looks best (I love the way it looks on mine) but, if you must change it, I would go with white pearl.

I'd normally say tort but, with a maple fretboard I have to say keep the black. Just get some cream pickup covers.

I think black or tort pickguards are the only colours that would suit a natural finish bass.

Here's my VM Precision (amber) with an "aged cream pearl" pickguard. I think it makes the bass look decades older than it is:

just wondering if anyone can tell me what is done to this neck? I think I would like to do my VM jazz like that but not sure what was done to get that gloss.

That neck was finished with the same polyurethane as the body.

OP, I have a bass that looks almost identical except it also has black binding and neck inlays. If I ever change it, it would be to a black transparent stained thin wood, like The Bass Company used for its pick guards. I would find a suitable wood and cut it out myself, but I'm a DIY'er. Here's an example in dark red:
