    "Ghosting"

Care to elaborate? I know on some rather difficult tracks Gilmour would play the bass part (One of These Days comes to mind) but what else? Waters himself was never known to be a great bass player.

In praise of: Colin Greenwood (Radiohead)

Saw them at Lolla, they were amazing, and he really cut through the mix really well. Very impressive all around, I've always felt he's somewhat underrated given that they are a band that has 3 guitarists, tends to focus on Thom and Colin's brother a bit more than everyone else, and they've...

    Uh Oh!!!

Colin Greenwood is a fantastic bassist and uses an old Fender P-bass, in fact I never see him playing anything else I was surprised how much it actually cut through the mix, what with 3 guitarists and a bunch of electric bullcrap they have going in their songs

Squier Precision - Affinity vs Vintage Modified, difference?

My VM Precision is quite good and would stand up to MIM Fenders easily

Ed Friedland & a Bongo Six

i turned away near the end and heard him playing up the neck and could have sworn it was a guitar, then saw him soloing over a track i'm actually fairly impressed with what he did there, but was anyone else not that impressed with how the B sounded? He made a big deal about how good it...

    GAS for a Squire!?!?

As I posted earlier in the thread, the action on mine isn't fantastic (in fact most P-basses I've encountered have better action) and if I try to lower it I get dead spots up the neck. Maybe I could do some truss rod adjustment or something, I'm not really sure how this works, although I...

SX (essex) Bass Club part 2

I'm probably going to end up getting a full body Jag of some sort either way, so feel free. :) Well it seems like the sunbursts are out of stock, yeah I know they don't make guitars of a certain finish they can do whatever they want but...

SX (essex) Bass Club part 2

Dang wish they didn't discontinue making it. Not a fan of the Black/Black and the Red/black they have available.

SX (essex) Bass Club part 2

I was just checking the Rondo site and came across something I hadn't seen before Link Removed This is new, no? Kind of interesting, love the finish+guard and I've been considering a P+J, shame its a short scale though

    Fender American Precision V vs. G&L 2500

That looks like a collection that can get nearly any sound that is ever desired out of a bass guitar (if you kept the Jazz) I'd be pretty satisfied

    GAS for a Squire!?!?

Yeah I have that bass, actually is my first bass. Love it a lot. Only thing about mine is the action isn't that great and if I try to lower it I get some dead spots up the neck. Looking for something with Jazz-like pick ups now, possibly a Rondo Jaguar or just a Jazz

Your ultimate fantasy band - who would hold the chairs and why

Entwistle -Bass Bonham - Drums Hendrix - Lead Guitar Pete Townshend -Rhythm Guitar (when you consider he was basically playing rhythm to Entwistle's 'lead' bass it makes more sense) Vocalist is a toughie. It really depends on what direction you want to go. I'd definitely have John...

Was one reason you bought that bass because of an artist?

I didn't buy my Squier VM Precision because of any artists in particular, but I certainly appreciated the olympic white/black pickguard because of its history with punk (DeeDee Ramone and the cover of the Clash's London Calling comes to mind) and because Radiohead's Colin Greenwood uses a P-bass...
