Any reason not to? Carvin LB70 Fretless...

I've had several Carvins over the years and have been pretty happy with them. Had an LB76 (6 string) that had some bad solder joints, but I solder pretty well and fixed it right up. My only real complaint is they have very low resale value (which is good for you as a buyer) If that bass crossed...

For a Fretless, D'Addario black tape wounds or GHS black tape wounds?

I have to agree, the La Bella strings have the sound and the feel. They can also be ordered from Carvin for 21 bucks, Bonus :-)

I need me some o' that combo amp advice.

I think the Carvin MB 12 and a second cab would cover you for most situations. Through my older Carvin I play a Jazz and a Music Man as well as a Carvin 5 stringer and it preforms well. The mB's have plenty of tone control for most any type of playing and you can't beat the price.

I need me some o' that combo amp advice.

I was also going to suggest Carvins. I have one of their older PB200 combos, 200watt head bolted into a small 1x15 cab with a horn. Their newer (current) Micro series looks very interesting. I have been using their amps, of all sizes since the mid 70's and have never had an issue with the gear...

This goes out to all you driver mixing haters...

It looks like a back breaker. Much rather have a 4x10 and a separate 1x15, A bit more flexibility. But Oxblood grillcloth, thats hard to pass up:hyper:

    hey, jerk from ebay...

I have to say, This is Quality Entertainment.:)

What cab do you prefer for 5 string?

I use a bi-amped Carvin BX1500 and route the highs (Above 200) to a 4x10 cab with a horn and the lows through a 1x18. It moves some serious air :-)

To Fender or NOT to Fender...

I picked up an American Vintage 1975 Jazz Bass a couple of years ago and it has become my main bass, Top notch fit and finish, a neck to die for and it sounds awesome. I have a Musicman, Gibson and a Rick and they don't get as much play time as they used to. The American Fenders are Very Nice.

    TBer's Review of Carvin Cart

Carvin does make nice Basses, I've had 3 but they have a very low resale value, I ended up selling my 1500.00 6 string for 550.00 and that took several months, If you're buying it to keep forever That's a different story. (My .02 worth)

Nice Bass. Carvin makes excellent basses as well as killer amps. I've been a loyal Carvin guy since the 70s
