yes, scott is an adventurous woodworker. i had him find me a unique piece of hackberry with a knot. the stranger the better. this knot doesnt have any differing texture/density and no holes to fill. purely aesthetic. i dont think it would affect the sound at all. some people, myself...

a question..... I am debating a hy5 or cortobass. It seemed on the demo cd that these two had slightly different tones. Is there anybody out there who r can say if they do in fact have slightly different tones and if so can you elucidate a bit. I really like the tone on the cortobass...
