Beginner Blues Bass. Help Needed (Blues Bass)

First of all, you’ve got it wrong. If you’re aspiring to be a pro, you should never commit to play things that you’re not able to play. I understand that your friend’s band it isn’t a pro band either, but that’s not the way of getting the things started. But now you’ve got to play a whole show...

    Frustration between Technique's..

Well, to me it's all about the sound. I don't care if I look silly playing with my bass "too up". Regarding your question, to me sounds like a combination of reinventing your technique and practicing a lot with your fingers, your trouble zone. Picking and finger playing are both techniques that...

    Fretting Hand Frustration

Hand away from the neck, it's all about your position. New strap will help you to avoid this playing mistake, and above all the things, stay relaxed while you're playing.

    Capo on a bass.

I never used one, but sounds OK to me if you're just starting to play. Otherwise, I'd rather learn how to tune fast, it's just a "complementary" thing to practice

    Question about Jamming

Well, I do have that problem too. I mostly go to blues jams and though the tunes are "easy", sometimes the guitar or piano player changes the key and for one second I'm totally lost, then I catch it quickly. The II-V-I is THE place to start. Also, by intervals you can get in all tunes, you...

    funkin' pick

I think that a pick would give you a thicker cut groove. It's more agressive than play with the fingers. I would use a pick if I was playing that tune, a few players on great funk albums played with pic, now it only comes to my mind the bassist for Banbarra who played "Shack up"
