    PEAVEY GRIND

I forgot to add: to avoid capacitive loading of longer guitar cables, use the shorter, 1,5m etc. cables. This way you won't kill the tone with the nasal hi-mids cable-resonance, it will remain more open. I find stock soapbars are quite sensitive to loading (probably that's what you describe...

    PEAVEY GRIND

Personally I find stock grind sits well in mix recorded. Better than some expensive bass I have. If you lower the stock soapbars, it will "flatten" your tone, this way you can bring it up where needed with a mix eq. I was thinking bart m45cbc as a possible upgrade. Hopefully you could...

    mm sound in j shape

Does anybody know how these sound/perform? MEC 60102XL [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] according to what I gathered from the net, they should growl but not cut-trough so much. (contemplating about retrofiting an old jj 4-string)

Peavey Import Club (BXP Line and others)

I've got the 5str BXP-grind, fnhj...something serial, still in waranty. Maybe I'll get another one and fit the better with bart/emg40hz soapbars + pre. Most probably I'll mod the circuitry to have 2-way passive tone control + active buffer, I'm leaning towards custom design, don't know yet if...

    "ringy" pickups

Pickups can "ring" if they are loaded too lightly, i.e. with too high impendance of the following stage (i.e. input of either a preamp, onboard electronics or amp) - or that the volume etc. pots in bass are of too high kOhm value (that's why "no controls" passive basses have "more tone")...

    Convert a J bass to 1 tone, 1 vol?

I had that on my P-J beater Ibanez 4-strings (2-knobs-to-go). And an active linear buffer. Brought me a never-before-imagineable peace of mind and a very consistent basic, linear, slap-friendly tone (with passive MEC's !!!). --------------------------------------------------------- help...

Hot Rod Ideas for 5-String Peavey Grind NTB-5

Hi - NorCal, can you tell if the stock PU's were epoxy-filled or "empty"? my original post is here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=430815 and I apologize for hijacking, but it is somehow related.

Better Pup's or Hot Rod Ideas for Peavey Grind 5 String?

Hi - I also have the 5str grind and have somewhat related questions. My main question is: how is the mechanical build quality of _stock_ builtin soapbars and are they epoxy-filled or left "open"? (posted here:) http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=430815 If you replace...

    Peavey Grind 5BXPNTB soapbars question

I have a question regarding _mechanical_construction_ of stock Peavey soapbars that come factory-installed on 5-string Grind basses (bxp - ntb), the ones that are mounted with 4-screws and the same dimensions as emg 40HZ soapbars. (I have a new-ish grind which is still under warranty which I...
