mm sound in j shape

so which j shape pickup will give me the best appoximation of the MM sound? preferably passive if it exists.

i'm looking for the same thing you are. looks like [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] pickups would be best. haven't seen any other J pickups with big pole pieces. i'm not sure if you can run them passive though.

Those delano are passive pickup. I saw them in the shop along with the other delano sets. I believe those are the pickups will suit your need.

according to what I gathered from the net, they should growl but not cut-trough so much.

it's not the shape - or the size of the pole pices -

it's the type (humbucker) and more importantly the position of the MM pickup that gives it its sound.

I had a Status Groove Bass once. 95% what you want but its active.
