Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

No owners of the cx series in the club? I wonder what it sounds like, compared to the old sbx ferrite cabs, which I liked a lot.

    Tube-like solid state amplifier?

I own a chillbass tube amp and I've never been able to get the same thickness, the same feeling of a "3D" sound with a solid state amp ( I owned gk, markbass, aguilar ss and hybrid heads). IMOH You can get near but not totally . I used to play on a markbass tte 500, it emulated well the natural...

Mesa Boogie Walkabout Mega-thread Part 10

I bought a used walkabout a few days ago as a back up for my chillbass tube amp, and to use it at home and to take it at rehearsals. I really love it. It's the perfect link between the world of solid states and the world of tube heads. The EQ is perfect and allows to go from vintage to modern...

    The "Quiet Mesa Walkabout" project...

i'm almost ready to pull the trigger for a silenX. Which is the most usual way to plug the fan? Did you plug it the way the original fan was, using the capacitors (but not running at full speed), did you all removed the capacitors, or left them but didn't use them.

    The "Quiet Mesa Walkabout" project...

What can be heard with mine seems to be the air flow, rather than a mechanical noise from the fan, since when I put my hand against the case, the noise doen't bother me anymore. Will a replacement of the fan solve the problem?

What's wrong with the Tone Hammer 500?

As it has been said above, it's not a plug and play amp if you consider the parametric control of the mids, and the way the gain and drive interact. It is also rather on the vintage side imho (you cannot get pristine highs to dig a modern sound). And I thought that it lacked something on the low...

    Gallien Krueger Fusion 550

Great amp! Really versatile, powerfull , the EQ works fine. I liked the harmonic content the tubes give. I only wished it had the tremendous low end of the 700 rbII. If you almost cut the mids, you can really get a vintage sound. Even if the small heads can get load, I don't feel the same...

GK MB Fusion 800 vs Streamliner 900

If you want an upgrade of the mb 200, go for the mb 500 or the 800. They are the keepers of the gallien spirit, in a small box. The fusion series are quite different, less growl, rounder imho, with some tube warmth. I loved the genz with its pillowy low end, its thickness and warmth. It sounded...

    GK MB500 vs 400RB IV

The rb series' EQ is much more precise. The same for the filters IMO. The rb series sound better with more richness in the low end.

LIST ALL YOUR AMPS AND CABS!!!

Amps: yorkville bm 200 (nothing special about this combo, very transparent) ampeg b3 ( nice ampeg tone, very warm, but not powerfull enough to play in a loud band) Gallien krueger 700 rbII (incredible amp for the price. Loved its rich, warm and precise low end. Very...

What tube amp do you play?

I play through a chillbass 100, french stuff, handmade, based on the hiwatt dr 103. Love it!

    Aguilar - Official 'Tone Hammer 500' 3.8lbs 500w Megathread!

It works well with the neo 212. The cab gives a less vintage flavour to the sound. .

Official Darkglass Club Pt. IV- The Revolution!!

I had my duality fuzz afew days ago: Incredible pedal! The best fuzz I have tried so far (if I except the mazzette jose phuzz, which sounded really nice without being as versatile). This fuzz has no limits from vintage to modern, from smooth to acid and agressive! My third darkglass (vintage...

Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

Has somebody heard the cx cabs? They are said to be a good match with the mb heads, and I wonder how they would do with a fusion 550. They are said to be less bright than the neos wich makes them attractive to me (if they could be in the spirit of the old sbx series it would be fine: warm...

    Markbass TTE 500

Hi, It's not easy to get a dirty sound from the tte even if you crank the gain.It gets easier if you change the preamp tube in v1 (i tried a tung sol). It was not a matter since I prefer the distortion produced by pedals. It's really a good head, a simple one, it's very easy to get a good sound...
