    Help identifying a Tracy Pew bass head that isn't an Acoustic 220 or SVT

    It sort of looks like a Gallien-Kreuger Backline 600, but I don't have any idea when those amps first went into production...

    Pedals that (far) exceeded your expectations...

    For me, had tons of pedals over the years but right now, it's the Boss GT-1B. Picked it up on a whim. It's pretty much replaced everything else I was toting around. That said, EVERY TIME I say I won't ever get rid of a pedal, I get rid of that pedal. {shrugs}

    what is active bass all about when you have eq on the amp

    just saw this thread... and didn't bother to wade thru all 7 pages, but hopefully someone brought up how helpful active preamps are when recording in the studio and they only run you direct... it still allows me some control over the tone of my bass

    Need help... fast, if possible

    Yes. ;-) Depends on the venue. Where I can, I use both. BUT, I have just as many shows where I only need one cabinet. I switch the cab over to 4 ohm (I run the pair at 8) so I'm still pulling the big beefy power out of the amp.

    BAM! I've got 2 of the HyDrive 112's - use them in pairs or separately and the switchable impedance was the MAIN reason I picked them up. I don't have any trouble staying up with, or even ahead of, the rest of the band's volume level.

    Who switches between 4 and 5 string regularly?

    I'm also in the both camp, and don't have any issue switching between them. I play a 5 with the country act and fretted/fretless 4s with the tribute bands. I also have Hipshot detuners on all of my 4s, which covers most of the drop material I play. If I had to be honest with myself, though, when...

    P or PJ with a Jazz neck , 34" scale, 7.5 - 8.5 lbs, $500 - $1,750, suggestions?

    I added a Reverend Mercalli to my arsenal a couple of years ago, easily one of the best playing/feeling passive basses I've ever owned. It's got the P/MM p'ups. Reverend makes one called the Decision, which has their take on the P/J combination. Mercalli: Decision:

    Your go to strings

    Been using DR Hi-Beams and DR Black Beauties for the longest time, but just tried S.I.T Foundations Nickel and am LOVING them... so I'm thinking my "goto" brand just changed...

    Why can't I play neck-through basses? w/ Poll

    of the NT basses I've owned, the only thing I didn't like is that (mine) were heavier than my bolt-ons... but never had any issue with action/sound/playability
