depends on what you're going for. My first experience with music was sitting in as a "house bassist" for several country/southern gospel acts. I was 15, the oldest individual was also sitting in as a lap steel guitarist and he was in his late 60s. We got along fine. Music is a universal...

Until your first band is gigging every weekend and practicing on a full-time schedule which doesn't allow any space for a second band, I say fill up your schedule with as much music as your heart and hands allow! AND STACK THAT CASH! :)
