Could be. Wood is not a highly consistent material. You can build two identical basses, using the wood from the same tree, and it's likely that they'll sound/feel a little different. If not a lot different. So it may be that the 5's neck is made of maple that is a little less stiff than the 4...

Not a pedal, not cheap, and not easy to find, but the Aguilar DB659 is/was the exact preamp section of the DB750/751. The "ultimate" Aguilar rig in earlier days was the DB659 or DB680 into a DB728 400 watt all-tube power amp.

In the comments he says he's triggering a Roland VB99. Since there's no visible Roland pickup on the bass, I'd assume it's got a piezo pickup in each bridge saddle, sending the individual string signals to the VB99 via standard Roland 13 pin cable. The basses with wired frets are currently made...

Does the bass have a bolt-on neck? If it does, this is usually caused by the neck being slightly angled to one side. The fix is to loosen the strings a little, then loosen the neck screw/bolts and push the headstock slightly to the side until the strings are centered over the pickups...

Those frets aren't hanging over the edge of the fretboard - it's just that the picture makes it hard to see that the neck has black binding. Plenty of other concerns with the bass, though.
