When you hear Warwick you relate to funk or metal?

I seem to be noticing that, but it seems to be true for most bass forums i've visited (apart from trace and peavey, they're usually pretty well accepted to be quality kit) I love my $$ anyway, and that's all that really matters, right?

When you hear Warwick you relate to funk or metal?

I tend to think metal when i hear warwick, but to me, funk and metal are very similar sounds and my $$ sounds awesome for either. My $$ balances perfectly. Also amazingly verstile, amazingly comfortable and playable and very practical, i have no idea what you guys have against them.

Who plays basses that just don't visually fit the style of music you play?

Total opposite for me, when i play with a pick i like to rest my hand on the bridge and i can't do that slung low, with fingers though, it's the only way to go. I can't play with the bass up high, just doesn't feel right.

Noob question: What exactly is a p bass?

Some quick corrections to what LanEvo said, the original precision was made with a slab body until 1953 at which point they gave it body contours, and then in 1957 the bass changed to the modern precision as we know it today

found something interesting under the pickguard of my 80's jazz

It's player wear, end of discussion really. I don't touch any other part of the body of my bass, on the front anyway, i don't see why that's so hard to believe. And it looks reasonably old with the slightly tarnished control plate, it's just player wear.

What style music do you play and what is your number 1 bass?

I play metal and funk, my number one was a musicman SUB until recently when i got a corvette $$, which is now my #1 and the SUB has taken a back seat.

    It's called a recession.

Any cheap alternative to a MM Stingray?

nonononoNONONONONONONO NO. I've owned one of these, biggest pile of shite on the planet. SUB bass or ibanez ATK, OLP or one of the new sterling by musicman range, nothing else.

Fender vs. EBMM in terms of construction

x100000000 Fender is LIGHTYEARS behind EBMM in build quality. You shouldn't be surprised when you pick up a $1000 bass and find that it's actually what you would EXPECT from a bass of that price tag. Yes they may be improving in standard, but when you find yourself surprised that an instrument...

    Explorer Bass

Ibanez did one, epiphone did one, aria did one, though i don't know of any that are currently in production, it's going to be a case of scouting ebay for the above mentioned brands until you can find one cheap enough. You might be able to snag an epiphone one for that much, maybe.
