What kind of strings do you use?

It really doesn't but it's kinda cool to know what other players use. Maybe some guys here don't like their strings they are using now or maybe some of us want to try something different and want other players suggestions... If the thread bothers you then you can always unsubscribe to it. I...

What kind of strings do you use?

I'm a D'Addario guy myself. But lately I've been using Nickels on My American Deluxe Jazz V and also on my MTD CRB5. I like the Pro Steels on my MIM P-Bass but I've hot rodded it with a Gotoh bridge and SD Quarter Pounders so it really "Barks" at you. Perfect for old skool funk and classic rock.

Yeah. I mean higher volume pushes more air and the cab gets thumpier but I play at low volume all the time and it sounds fine. The key is setting the EQ on the amp. It doesn't need a lot. Also, I only use the Spectracomp tone print as a compressor.

Hatke 210 XL is exactly what I use. Been using it now for 2 or 3 years. Sounds great and if I need, I can add a Hartke XL115 to add some real Boom...

New Carvin P bass, about time?

I played the white PB 5 with the tortise p/g when I was there. Great build. Definitely interested. Also played the Fender American Deluxe Jazz V and it was pretty sweet as well but I'm a P guy and I think for the $ I can custom order a better instrument from Carvin. My only issue is it's...

    Is blues a dying art?

You tell us. Is it blues? Blues can be a lot of different things. That's kinda what I've been saying here all along. It almost as if blues is as much an attitude and feeling as it is a musical genre.

    Is blues a dying art?

The art of Blues, to me at least, is to keep the lines consistent yet making the subtle changes and little improvs to change it just enough to make it NOT boring. I love it. Remember, we're bass players. We keep the groove. We're the motor in the freight train.

    Is blues a dying art?

I hear you but are you going to tell me that that sounds like Led Zeppelin? No. It's Rock but it has evolved. That's what I'm saying. It's all a matter of your perspective. In the 60's, how many 5 string basses did you see? Now they're nearly as popular as a 4 string. It's evolution...

    Is blues a dying art?

Funny, I don't hear people saying Rock n' Roll is a dying art form. I think Blues has evolved and is still evolving and has taken on different sub genres much in the same way Rock, Country, Pop and Hip Hop have done. To say Hendrix wasn't a Bluesman is absurd, go listen to what he did with it...

Never used it. Don't use the aux in either When I practice at home I DI into my mixer and mix the iPod or whatever on faders and use the headphone out of that

I definitely don't want to drill because I like the 2 knob config. May try the East system sometime down the road. And the East system works with the stock PUP as well

I've considered putting in a preamp. There's plenty of room that's for sure. I like the East pre amps, they seem pretty cool and don't require any body modification. Did you put one in yours?

Hmm. Mine thumps. It's plenty loud. Easily keeps up with live drums and guitar amps. Maybe you had the input pad switched on? I've never had that problem with mine. Bummer dude.
