Fender (and Squier) wide range humbucker - what's going on under there?

I agree it’s all very confusing with conflicting info all over the net. My reply was really just to the last sentence in your post. Maybe someone else will chime in with some vetted information. In the meantime, I don’t know if it helps in any way but for some additional reference of what...

Fender (and Squier) wide range humbucker - what's going on under there?

Check my post above yours. Assuming pickup-maker Curtis Novak is a reliable source, he tells me that the original bass versions of the WRHB pickups didn’t use CuNiFe like the guitar versions. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fender (and Squier) wide range humbucker - what's going on under there?

I emailed Curtis Novak recently asking about the WRHB bass pickups that he offers and wether or not they included the CuNiFe magnets or if that was an add-on and in his reply he mentioned that while he could build them with CuNiFe if I wanted, “Actually the WRHB bass was nothing like the guitar...

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Especially damaging when THEIR distortion pedal sounds better on bass

gotta keep the board smaller than the guitarists otherwise we start getting the side-eye haha

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

So far I am liking it. The drives really do sound great IMO, and just the ability to have a wildcard pedal that can be placed before or after compression is pretty valuable. In it’s default role I will likely use it as a utility pedal such as a post-compression volume pedal (it’s hooked up to...

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

The Cali76 is in the effect loop of the HX One so I can place it before or after an effect. All-in-all perhaps a little gratuitous for the stuff I play but it all fits on a Metro 20 so I figure why not? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How important is LPF and Amp & Cab sim in live setting?

Thanks for the reply. I definitely don’t want to complicate things with the sound tech. I keep it pretty simple with a mostly clean sound / flat eq / light compression with just a couple songs that have a little dirt. Anyway I’ll definitely keep that in mind to coordinate w/ foh before sending...

How important is LPF and Amp & Cab sim in live setting?

Question for you, I am just recently going IEM with my band and figuring it all out. In the situation you describe, ideally do you just have the cam sim sound in your ears and a more neutral sound to FOH or do you send the cab sim to both?

Hoping to See Comparisons Between the SGT-DI and Venture Series...

There are some minor differences such as the treble control on the SGT-DI is at 8kHz while on the Venture heads it’s at 4kHz.

Buying a Yamaha BBP34 and looking for string suggestions

I’m curious, since they are a bit smaller gauge than stock did they vibrate above the nut on open notes? I had a set on a jazz bass and the A string did that.

Could this box (Twin-ISO) work for this application

I have a Twin-ISO. It is a fantastic line-level isolator, however it does not have any attenuation features. You would need a separate device for that such as a Radial SAT-2, or if you don’t need variable adjustment you could use some inline xlr pads.

    Show us your SGT-DI rig

I got a chance to record with it a couple weeks ago.

How do YOU record your bass?

Direct; usually through a Radial JDI or J48. Nothing too fancy.
