    Mixing bass and monitor signals.

Thanks for your help! The DI box option is surely a cheaper solution (they sell for 150bucks here), but how do I also send the bass signal to my amp without having two buy a mixer with two separate mixes for amp and headphones?

    Mixing bass and monitor signals.

Hello everyone, hope I'm posting in the right section, it seemed the most appropriate. Anyways, simple question: I want to mix the monitor/aux signal coming from our band's mixer with my bass ("more me" kind of thing). My current setup is Passive bass -> VT bass -> amp. I was thinking about...

Sound comes out even when volume is down

Hello! I just installed a new pickup on my bass along with an extra volume pot for it. The current configuration is Volume-Volume-Tone. Problem is, when I turn both volumes down I can still hear a very low sound coming through. I'm not sure what I've done wrong, as the volumes do actually work...

E and A strings sound very different to D and G.

Hello everyone, Some months ago I switched necks on my P and my J basses. I haven't been using the J (now with a P neck) for some time now, and I just got back to it today. I noticed that the E and A strings sound a lot different from the D and G. I'm not sure whether I've done something wrong...

Switching necks betweeen P and J basses.

I see. The only thing that frigthens me is the fact that J screws go through the holes on the back of the body of the p-bass with no resistance at all (they just "slide through"). Do I need to somehow "enlargen" the screws? (with teflon maybe?)

Switching necks betweeen P and J basses.

Hello everyone. I've got a squier Matt Freeman P-bass and a Vintage Modified J-bass. I wanted to switch necks on these two basses but I found out that the screws are a little different. The ones holding the P-bass neck are a little bit larger. What should I do? I can either: -use P-bass...

Squier Jazz Bass : CV or VM+pickups?

Aestethically speaking, I do prefer VMs indeed. I wasn't aware of the fact they dropped DD pickups though!

Squier Jazz Bass : CV or VM+pickups?

No idea to be sincere. It's just what I've gathered by reading tons and tons of comparison threads here on TB about those two basses. I've only played a Matt Freeman P myself. I'm going to a music shop later in the day to try them out myself. Won't be able to try the VM with modded pickups of...

Squier Jazz Bass : CV or VM+pickups?

Hello guys, I've been reading lots of CV vs VM posts on talkbass recently. What most threads don't consider though, is the fact that the VM goes for around 300€ here in Italy while the CV goes for 400€. With the 100€ I save by buying a VM, I could mod it with new pots and some new pickups...

    "Jazz bass-y" vintage basslines

(wasn't sure whether to post here or in the Recordings section) Hello friends! I've been mesmerized by a few songs lately, stuff like this and this. They do sound like jazz basses or similar basses to me. I've watched quite a few live performances of these two songs and it looks like Focus'...

    Punchy sound on high frets

I've tried moving my right hand but the sounds is still quite different. I am definitely getting more and more interested in short scale basses these days, gotta try one and maybe I'll find what I'm looking for. Thank you for your suggestions!

    Punchy sound on high frets

You are totally right. I've recorded a small clip to describe what I mean: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] The first note is a G1 (played on E string), then a G2 (played on D string), last is G2 (played on E string). The last one sound more "punchy" to me, not really sure how to describe that...

    Punchy sound on high frets

Hello everyone, I can't help noticing that I like the sound on higher frets (frets 12 to 20) better than I like it on lower ones: it sounds punchier to me, and I like punchy. I was wondering if this depends on the tension of the set, and whether I have to look for a lower or higher tension for...

    Vintage viola basses question

Hey everyone, I recently checked out a video of the eko 995 and really like the sound. (This one in particular : Invalid Link Removed) Being totally unexperienced with these kind of basses, I was wondering if there are any modern basses that sound something like that. I am not sure whether I...
