    MusicMan S.U.B. Refinish.

Looks SOOOO good. What type of gun did you end up getting? Just a reg HVLP with a larger tip? Or was there another specialty gun? I would love to try this on my longboards! Thanks

Soon, no more "custom" Carl Thompson basses?

Just was browsing his website for the um-tenth time, and noticed a new announcement: "As of February 5th, 2014 (Carl's birthday!) we will not be taking any more "custom orders." Immediately, my heart sank. I have been wanting one of these instruments since I started playing 15 or so years...

    Modulus Mob

I had my eye on that too :(:( wasnt bidding since I cant swing the dough but I want that bass soo soo bad. I got to play a silver one like 5 years ago and to this day I yearn for one. One of the most comfortable and best sounding basses I've ever played. With the apparent shut down, I wish I...

For anyone who cares about RHCP and Flea... + the basses he's used for albums.

1964 Rickenbacker 4001 Restoration - NEED FIREGLOW HELP!

Also, what is the blue bass in that wall picture, that fingerboard is sexy. Headstock almost looks like a ritter, but the pickups beg to differ

1964 Rickenbacker 4001 Restoration - NEED FIREGLOW HELP!

I love rickenbackers!!! I love restorations!!! Subbed! That patch looks fantastic, very nice work. I think with the stain and hardware it will be very hard to notice.

    super glue on finish

Since it has hardened, I cant imagine there would be much any solvent would do. I would assume the only way to get it off would be to carefully use a razor blade or a sharp wood chisel (my weapon of choice). If the clear coat is hard and smooth there might be a crappy bond and you might be able...

Refurbishing and upgrading my first bass!

Thanks! I am fortunate enough that I work as a composites purchaser so the kevlar was a sample from a vendor, the epoxy is leftover free samples from when I helped develop it. The carbon is from scraps left over from some boards I built. The stains I already had too. The only really out of...

Refurbishing and upgrading my first bass!

Haha its actually the one I use in the shop. Which is why i opted for the breaking bad costume. Only cost me $5 for the yellow suit haha. Routing and sanding carbon you need the fullface and coveralls. At least with my longboard production methods. Think millions of tiny fiberglass splinters...
