+1 On the above post. I'm not tech but, that action looks REALLY low! if its not more than 1/32 at the twelfth fret then that's probably the issue.

I am having issues with tuning my E string and I can forget tuning it to D. The harmonic trick works most of the time but I'd prefer to tune the open string. Not sure the NS mini is a viable tuning solution for Basses, works great on my guitar though.
