I broke the odd tuner on my Stingray while getting it out of the car in a crappy gig bag... bought a case, lesson learned.

So I got this amp head about a year ago, all is well... but recently I turned on the EQ section and it just went crazy loud and this high pitched noise started comming out of the box. So I looked it up a bit and it seems like it is a faulty EQ section. Now I am looking for suggestions how to fix...

Okay so I tried it today at practice and it does seem to solve the farting mostly (there is still a weird buzz in there) but compared to my stock SX jazz bass, the Stingray sounds very lifeless. No real punch, no nice overdriven grit. Any other suggestions or should I look into a new bass?

The wiring is fine, I made sure it is exactly as the scheme. I admit my bass cab isn't too good (I have an old Fender guitar box and 2x10 speakers in there) but it is not the problem, doesn't fart with my jazz bass. I did replace the battery too. The pickup is lowered but I can't afford to lower...

My bass amp is a Hartke HA2500, all knobs point straight up, no EQ on the amp... the Stingray knobs are always maxed out because that is the tone I'm looking for. I do plug it into the active input for the amp. Farts on the low end, tried DI recording and the signal clearly shows clipping.

So I have been playing this bass for a while, loving the feel of it but I simply can't get it to sound good. I did the electronics mod as advised in a thread on this forum but the signal still clips, very annoying farting sound. What would be the next logical step, replacement electronics, new...

I have pretty small hands but I don't want to sacrifice playing all these wonderful basses and get a short scale bass... so now I play an SX Jazz bass and a SUB Stingray, wonderful thin necks, my small fingers can easily reach any note I would like to play... but the P bass neck is just too much...

I am pretty darn young and I play a Stingray just beacuse I love everything about it... the massive sound, the shape of the pickguard, the awesome 3+1 tuners on the headstock, that one massive pickup there... Wow... I just spent tons of money on some new basses and a black SUB4 and now you come out with transparent blue... I'll be eating bread and water for the rest of the year, I'll be broke :)

Mine is pretty well balanced, the tuners seem pretty heavy so it is a bit on the heavy side on the neck but if you have anything close to a decent strap it will be fine. The nut is about 36 or 37 mm here.

Yeah I adjusted the truss rod a bit and now it plays pretty nice, might be slightly buzzy but thats the way I like it, a bit dirty hehe. One more question, are the pickups worth replacing? I mostly rock the neck pickup, I was looking at the quarter pounder from Seymour Duncan, is it worth...

So I just swapped my old Warwick with my bro's SX Jazz bass and it sounds incredible. Has a bit of buzzing but whatever, I guess I should do some shielding. Heavy as hell but I might use it for live shows, anyone got any suggestions on how to get nice low action on these? I feel the nut is a bit...
