MusicMan SUB RAY4 - how I fixed clipping int preamp :)

I am having this issue now, and am contacting the shop I bought it from to fix it. (crossing my fingers there). I have the exact same Ray 4 as you. I listened to your clips, it did sound improved on the second one, however I still heard a lot of clipping farting on the E string. (or maybe my VLC player is a mess). Anyway, did you ever get it completely tamed?

Yeah it is a little farty, I think I actually had the gain a bit hot.

I can confirm since doing the pickup lowering AND buying a DI with a 20dB pad has stopped all issues.

I still get way too much level out of the E string vs rest of bass strings though, still working on that.. but all fret buzz gone.

Once these were released in the US, many many people had the same complaint. Praxis MI (the company licensed by EBMM to build the Sterling line) actually released a tech document on how to rewire the pre-amp for less output to solve the problem.

Sorry for bumping, but does anyone have a working link to this? Or any idea how to solve it? My SUB Ray4 farts way too much.
