was going to suggest superior deluxe as well. I really like mine and they have given my cheap bass a warmness that was nowhere to be found before

I have an "Antonius VB-003" which I understand is the same thing just under a different name (also 3/4, not 4/4) It needs help badly setup-wise, but I got it cheap. In the end it will be a $700 bass I grow on but right now it sounds terrible. Be prepared for this $600 bass to grow in...

I'm running cardboard under my bridge just to get it up to a playable height (can't afford the luthier right now) with no noticeable difference in tone. In fact, I WISH it would cut some of the highs from my twangy G.

good point Nicholas! I have an inherited banjo that is very similar... definitely not a good investment to fix it. It wasn't a great banjo when it was brand new almost 100yrs ago but to fix up the same instrument my great-uncle lovingly played is a no-brainer for me.
