    Wireless System

Just to weigh in: I'm another that uses the boss wl20. Been using it for almost everything for the last 3-4 years with no issues! Only time I've ever seen one play up was when the receiver was sitting right next to a WiFi box on stage.

The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Reporting in on the Greenhouse: I've had the chance to use it a few times this week. It definitely adds some lovely character to my dry tone. I've become very used to the tone/feel of my p bass with Daddario flats, directly into a Radial JDI over the last few years, which I would describe as...

The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

I just purchased a Greenhouse for the frankly unbelievable price of $150! With $30 dollars postage to the UK, the total came to £133.36, juuust below the customs tax threshold of £135 here in the UK. The stars aligned and the GAS overcame me. As someone who has basically just used a solid state...

Does anyone care that Janek Gwizdala dropped Aguilar and now uses Ampeg ?

It still basically works fine! But it has a crackly volume and gain knob, an issue with DI ground (i think) hum in most venues that i get around by using a radial ICEcube box, and it's taking longer and longer to *click* on after pressing the on switch. On a few occasions i've had turn it back...

Does anyone care that Janek Gwizdala dropped Aguilar and now uses Ampeg ?

I'm definitely in the minority here, but yes Janek has drawn my attention to the new venture series. I've been playing a markbass rig for about 10 years now and will probably get at least a new head in the next 1-3 years as my LM3 has been through the wars a bit. If i can get a clean tone from...

Eden D610 XLT with Darkglass MT900?

I have an eden 610. It sounds amazing and is a tonne of fun to play through, but it is permanently stuck up my stairs. I somehow got it up, and will never be able to get it down without some help. It's not just the weight (57kgs). The carry handles are in such a position that you have to lift...

Chromes - Why choose over LaBella?

It's all subjective, but what you mentioned about playing over the pickup rings true to me. I use them for a lot of rock/pop music, compared to Labellas (ime) they're as deep but not buttery, as defined, but with a different top end clank. I've had them on a p bass for about 5 years now and they...

please help identify these mystery flatwounds (photos!) on my new MusicMan

You could try the 40, 60, 80, 100 'Custom Light' set. It has a total tension of 172lbs, and the tension is balanced better across the strings, rather than being heavier on the D-G side of the neck like the normal set. I switched to them 5 years ago because my pbass neck was developing a twist...

Heavy Duty IEC AC Power Cable

Just thought i'd post a bit of info incase anybody in the UK is thinking of buying the D'addario IEC cables, as this thread is one of the first things to pop up on Google when searching reviews! The UK (type G) version only comes in 14 guage, not 12 like the US version. You won't find this info...

    floating thumb techniqe

Just my 2c: I switch between the moveable anchor and floating thumb continously. In general, when i play the E string, my thumb is on the pickup, when i play the A string it's on the E string, and when i play the D string it's on the A string, BUT when i play the G string, if i move my anchor...

    Made in the USA

Which do you all think is better? American company built in china/abroad (eg Apple), Or foreign company but built in the US (eg the Toyota factory example)?

Double Bass Thompson RM-100 vs. Gollihur Ed

I had a Thompson RM-100 shipped from the US to Ireland about 8 years ago without any problems. It's a great instrument! Really great pizz tone (to my ears) and a very solid construction. In fact, when it first arrived with no strings/bridge on it, i stupidly assembled it without realising that...
