    I have a 2001 MIM Jazz bass that still has the stock pups in it. I'm primarily a guitar player, but I'd still like to put a nice set of Alnico pups into this bass. Vintage voiced is preferred. Can someone recommend some good, cheap pups to put in her? How are those pups from Fender's Classic...

    Bass ports?

    I tend to lean on the side of Kustom just haphazardly adding the tubes. The cab is thinner at the top than at the bottom, slowly tapering as it goes up. The replacement speakers are Fender branded Celestions I found for $32 each on ebay. I have a feeling calculating any proper tube length...

    I recently re-covered an old Kustom 3x15 cabinet and left out the aluminum bass ports. I don't really notice any tonal differences, but is there a reason to put them back in? The holes are still there, just not the long aluminum bezels. Thanks! From this: To this:

    Okay, after some more measuring, and comparing to my MIM Jazz; The HM Squier bridge has a different string spacing (wider), and different hole pattern, so a standard bass bridge wouldn't have fit anyways. The pickup cover sits on the very front of the Squier bridge plate, so I decided to attach...

    Alright, the cover does not fit. The stock bridge plate is wider than the Fender vintage (or MIM standard) plate. Taking some measurements to see if I have to order the new plate with saddles, or if these barrels will fit under (I like the brass barrels). I'll try to snap a few pics later on.

    Thanks everyone. I guess a new bridge plate is in order. Any reason this one won't work? No reason why the stock brass saddles shouldn't fit nicely, correct?

    Just to be clear, Invalid Link Removed is the one I have. Actually, it's a parts bass, but the body and bridge is from that bass. No bridge cover came stock as no holes are in the body, or shown on the website.
