    Leaving before it starts

If I'm honest, this sounds like a perfectly fine band, it has it all.. -mother with so many records ties she's practically Rick Rubin, -child prodigy with autism tearing up guitar, -brother, comparable to THE SIR PAUL McCartney in song writing, -eligible and smoking hot girl singer who is...

Owning mutiple basses drives me nuts.

I can relate 100%. Being a fairly minimal person, having one bass is awesome. I find if I practice a lot, and realize what I don't know, I feel almost silly for wanting another bass. Having one bass allows me to just sit and practice, no tone messing around.. no one cares so long as its not...

    Your local music stores

My local three shops all carry fender, gibson, musicman, ibanenz, yamaha, godin and some lower end warwicks. Everything else is just too far to drive for some bass testing, especially for a humble p player.

    Anyone Else Name Their Instruments?

I would name one a ladys name, like "anne".. but I run the risk of calling it that for years.. then meeting/jamming with someone named "anne".. then anne: "sounded great tonight, whats that bass?" me: "I call her anne" then looking like a complete stalker

    Ed Friedland kills it...

His reviews and books are absolutely top notch, can't say enough great things. A big thanks Ed!

The surefire way to develop your own voice on your instrument.

I would say it has to do a lot with confidence.. I know some great players that seem to consciously or not restrain themselves.. while others that just go for what sounds good to them regardless of what it is. You have to know who you are and have the confidence to say, "this is what I'm...

If you had 16 hours of practice time without bass in hand, what would you do?

Without security guards I'd be dead hundreds of times..

    Maple fretboard?

My eyes say I can never own a maple board, just plain don't like it.

    Church Praise Band

been there about a year ago, I say do it for sure. I suggest experimenting at practice and see what sounds good with the band, sometimes what sounds good solo doesn't go over very well with a full band. Also, IMO, its better to have a very simple bassline that hits the roots but has a nice...

Why the bass community is hurting itself.

I couldn't possibly agree less. I doubt the man interested in your bass has made a ranting post on his respective forum.

    Guitarist selecting first Bass

A used bass and a new amp are a good way to go IMO. Many potential issues with a bass are easy to spot and easier to fix.. meaning a used one can be a great way to go. A used amp may sound and play great, then break the next day.. difficult for a DIY'er to fix alone and has some...

    Noel Redding- say what?

I think you will find showing everybody respect regardless of the accomplishments attached to their name will make life much easier for you.

    n00b Theory Question

Not trying to oversimplify, just trying to help someone without getting them more confused then when they started. *I figured it would be best to let him know they are related and the same notes, that is all. I have seen many web pages dedicated to this topic and don't think its necessary for...

    Its Eb major, not minor.
