my question is : can the wrapping be cut? I have somewhat damaged it trying to fit it in (even after a couple of minutes dremeling) Now it is in place, but id love to know if i can remove the stupid wrapping (those are d,addario strings, i dont know if this wrapping is important or not)

Never broke any, and i think im playing pretty rough with that bass... you know, hitting the strings with pieces of metal and all that stuff... once, i grabbed my bass by the strings as it was lying on the floor, but i wouldn't do that everyday

Tabs are easier to read, but the provide absolutely no information on rythm, which why i'd say bass players should learn notation (unless they have a recording of the song) I have never been able to learn with tabs because the rythm isnt anywhere, although i like to use music sheets with tabs...

Thanks a lot! What i did was to set the intonation by ear, but i guess a tuner will do this better than i did :P At least i<m happy i placed the bridge correctly (i centered the saddles and measure to the 12th fret so i had the same distance as nut to 12th) Does the action change the intonation...
