The new bass just arrived but... Is this a defect ?

The neck is misaligned. Look at the space between the edge of fretboard and string (at last fret) it's different on each side. You need to loosen the neck bolts just a bit and shift it in the right direction, tighten again (with strings on to check). The pickup poles probably end up better...

Is this nut slot chip / missing wood cause for concern or just an aesthetic thing?

of course I will be thoroughly inspecting it and testing everything, even the truss rod, I do that for all trades but since this is not a common instrument I will be even more meticulous

Is this nut slot chip / missing wood cause for concern or just an aesthetic thing?

I'd be getting it for my 90s Korean sr400 and $120 USD. it's made by a luthier. neck thru, ebony fretboard, maple/nogal neck. it has emg 40 DC pickups, emg bts preamp, Schaller 2000-5 bridge and Schaller tuners. seems like a good deal right?

Is this nut slot chip / missing wood cause for concern or just an aesthetic thing?

Title. This is from a bass I'm looking to trade for. I would think this is a non-issue since it's a small piece and there are basses where there even isn't wood behind the nut, but i'm no expert Thanks in advance

Sell me on a US-made Stingray

I also have a sub Ray 4. I also had a ray34 but didn't like the wider neck, something to keep in mind. us Ray's have a wider neck more like a precision. the sub has a jazz like neck (38mm nut) otherwise you could look at the Sterling by ebmm. my sub is one of the older made in Indonesia, I...

In case you were wondering what a fender bridge looks like on a musicman bass (actually a sub)

I much prefer the 19mm string slaving as opposed to the 20mm on the sub ray4 stock bridge. also, the oversized baseplate looks hideous and cheap imo. I did it for function but actually ended up liking the look. I already had the bridge, it's from a vintage fender p bass. The 3 center screws line...

I want to buy a Ibanez SR (old series) need some advice.

I'm in argentina so local prices are a bit higher, so $400 is probably the lowest I can find the 800 for (talked down from 460 )

I want to buy a Ibanez SR (old series) need some advice.

Hello I've been looking to buy an used Ibanez from the 90s or such (PJ Pickups). But there's so many options. For example, is there any difference worth paying between an SR400, SR600 or Link Removed? I could get the SR800 for $400, or the SR400 por $200.. That particular 600 has emg pj...

Should I change my Wilkinson MM pup for an SD SMB-4D?

Greetings. Recently I had a custom bass made (body and neck) and then I assembled and did the electronics. The bass is wired passive volume volume tone with 500k pots and 2 mini switches for series/parallel for the MM pickup and a phase/out-of-phase for the P pickup I've been playing it for a...
