    Double Bass pops rosin paper cup

    I leave the paper on the Pops and just rip it when I need to. I agree with whoever said that you need to keep the rosin clean, and my hands as well. I used Swedish for years and still like it, but find that the pops rosin has a little more grip.

    Advice on new bass

    Hard to beat a Fender Jazz tuned down a whole step. I know some players that even tune down a step and a half. Also, one guy uses a jazz bass with the bottom four strings of a five.

    droo, I have had 2 of the necks of my 4 uprights cut down by qualified luthiers and had great success. My 5 string feels more like a 3/4, even though the instrument is much bigger, but has an extra wide fingerboard to compensate for the additional string. That work was done a long time ago.

    Williams Fine Violins in Nashville, Tn are importing some double basses from China that sound pretty darn good. I have played a few and they are well worth the $1200 or so that they charge. craigen
