Switch to short scale success stories for tennis/golfer's elbow?

I've seen some mention around here that switching to a short scale helped with some painful conditions. I'm looking for folks to share their stories who suffered from tennis and/or golfer's elbow in one or both arms that got relief after switching to a short scale bass. Why? I have both...

    AI (Artificial Intelligence) Creators Club!

I posted a thread a while back asking if anyone knew of tools that could aid in composing, specifically if I have let's say 15-20 riffs or musical bits, it could assemble them into combinations in interesting ways. My ideal output would be something like "riff 20 could be a verse and goes well...

Trying to use a loop pedal with a live drummer

It can be hard to do even with a click track, because the click keeps perfect time, but when you start and stop the loop you might be ever so slightly off of the click. After it repeats several times, that distance between the loop and the click keeps growing and growing. Of course this is not...

Recording on the cheap to get gigs

We were recording rehearsals just to capture spontaneous jam ideas using a zoom H1N, and it was OK for that purpose. The recordings weren't for outside consumption so we didn't bother much with adjusting levels and recorder positioning to get the mix just right. It might work for you though...

Non-Singing bassists: How well do you learn the lyrics of your cover song list?

I have no need for intentionally learning words in order to do my part, any more than I need to learn a different instrument's part. I'm kind of strange like that, I don't tend to focus on lyrics that much, I just hear the voice as another instrument making sound and I am not paying much...

    Why aren't musicians striking?

For a lot of folks, that would just mean that venue owners discover they can replace the musicians with AI generated playlists and the patrons wouldn't care...

How many use in ears but also use an amp at low volume for mointoring?

I guess I do a little bit of this- I like just enough to feel a little bit in the floor. But honestly its not necessary. If you have decent IEMs and most importantly they make a good tight seal in your ears, you can get good bass.

    Crazy Audition Stories

Lol I had a similar one, but it was a college guy, not an old guy. We went to to jam and he had no cymbals or hihats. Ok for maybe one practice, but not gonna work long term for a 3 piece rock band. He had left them at home (like 45 miles away) but would bring them next weekend. No problem...

    Crazy Audition Stories

Sounds eerily familiar, though my guy had a lot more gear. :D I think there are just some folks who really like gear, and really want to be able to play it, but just don't put enough time into actually playing the gear.

Any of you folks making use of AI music tools?

There is a flood of stuff coming out every day that generates music. i am not familiar with any of it - just started looking. I'd like to find a tool that is more than than a music generator - something that can help me take the pile of little musical bits and ideas me and my fellow humans...

What has been a game changer for you for convenience?

Earplugs - Do this now. Those same people won't be able to hear you in a few years when you tell them how wrong they were.

Songs you play wrong on purpose

How interesting! We do that one as well - only it's one where I stick to the original part (well mostly.)

Songs you play wrong on purpose

I approximate the bass in songs, but I see no need in trying to copy the recordings exactly. I'm playing rock in a 3 piece. Not to mention, in a 3 piece, almost any song you play is going to be missing other parts that are present in the recording - more guitars, keyboards, etc. So I might...

Brand new E string broke on tuning peg while winding.

I have had this happen, but maybe only a few times in decades of playing. I'd say it is very rare, but likely due to a defect in the string, or possibly a twist in the string that put it under additional stresses as you tightened.
