Some combos with active di have that same problem, they need to be energized to be quiet, my theory is that since it is an active di when not powered on , it can make a ground loop, I've had it happen with my GK 2-10 combo , I have never tried my other combos thru the pa without powered...

Yes a very generous gift,30 years of blood guts and tears. The joy of the music and the relaxation I get from playing must have been conveyed to them. I will certainly have a flood of memories when I grab it for a gig or just to jam.
