Hello Friends can anyone share experience about the tone of a Maruszczyk Elwood L? Specifically the slap tone? I have never played a chambered bass before and I am dubious if they can have a great slap tone. I have tried some other lightweight basses on the market but they have felt lacking...

Agreed, I had a Lakland with those pickups and the mk1 pre. As soon as I replaced the pre the bass sounded great. Interestingly, I later upgraded the pickups to some nordstand dual coils and they didn’t work at all with the preamp I had put in!
