I'm far from angry. It's comical that people with very little or no experience become experts on basses they don't or cannot even play. Again, if you haven't touched one of my basses, your opinion is worthless, and everyone knows it but you. The thread finally got positive, then here come the...

You need to learn the difference between a kickstarter and an ebay listing. Many expert opinions. Few credentials. Opinions on basses never played and CD's never listened to. Zero credibility. But that's what this forum is known for. Keep slingin' boys!

Oh lord. My head hurts now. And the "The problem is that the pickguard is installed at a slight angle relative to the line of the roller knobs...." No, the knobs were installed at slight angle relative to the pickguard. There IS a difference. The pickguard came first. As the text states, I...

Take a look at the kickstarter now. Added those photos. People see stuff that isn't there, so I guess we have to show them what's there to prevent them from imagining some silly things that aren't occurring. To get a better feel for the shape, watch the video because it looks cooler in...

That's what it does. In fact, in the middle under the strings, the pickguard is flat against the body. The body is carved or "radiused" while the pickguard stays flat, doesn't follow the curve of the body, to create that overhang on either side of the strings, but it's only 1/8". Pics, I'll...

I laid the controls and the pickguard across a Jazz bass shape, and it looked pretty cool. There is also room on the Svelte shape to put controls below like the normal realm. Everyone can be happy. Personally, the shape feels good wearing it.

Well, dang, Camdiggity, just tell us how you feel! I said I wasn't going to chime back in, but I'm starting to agree with those saying the stuff needs to be slick, not "rough draft" like someone so eloquently put it. They're liked hacked up renderings, BUT they do play and play very nicely...

At this point, I have just one general reply that takes care of 99% of questions: READ THE KICKSTARTER. And one more thing: read the kickstarter. But there are three more things to remember: 1). Read the kickstarter, 3) read the kickstarter and I forgot 2) read the kickstarter. Unless the...

cdef, this initial run is twenty, but we will be doing many more. If we were doing just this 20 or 30, the CNC may not be worth it. The kickstarter will get us into the future not just the present. Sales will replenish the funds our backers provide and be used as working capital, well, you said...

Joe, I think you play very well. Is being able to play bebop an unfair advantage? If so, I'd get cracking if I was you because any advantage, anything you can learn that will further your career, why not go for it? I believe the funnest thing a human can do (besides sex) is learn new stuff. So...

Hey Scourge, I neglected to cover this in my remarks, and I do have some explaining to do. First: pro·to·type ˈprōdəˌtīp/ noun 1. a first, typical or preliminary model of something, especially a machine, from which other forms are developed or copied. "the firm is testing a prototype of the...

Hi Guys and Gals, I’m the designer of the Svelte bass. I am very grateful for TalkBass, and I am honored that our new bass is the subject of such a dynamic thread, thank you. All of you gave up some valuable input for which I am appreciative and made adjustments to our kickstarter campaign...

There is something eerily hip that happens by splitting the pickups of, say, a Jazz bass (or like Alembic, Rickenbacker, others). Taking the two points of the string and spreading them apart from a few inches to 3 to 6 feet or more makes for some kind of psychoacoustic effect. It sounds like...
