I understand your point completely, but my experience in business that insulting possible clients is never the correct answer. The client is NOT always right, however, losing your temper with them does not solve the problem, it just gives them more ammo.
No one has received more hate on TB than Behringer, however, if you read Uli Behringers posts in the amp section, he gives his point of view (whether it is right or wrong) in a polite and educated manner.
Companies that have a huge waiting list for very expensive and/or boutique instruments would never (at least that I have seen) publicly try to insult people on a forum that houses many of their potential customers. This gentleman is looking for people to invest in the "possibility" of him building a new line of basses, I would think that he could keep his anger and short temper at bay until he at least reaches his goal.
This is just my opinion, and I may not be a professional bass player (or even a bass player at all by many standards), but I do try to be professional in the business that pays my bills.
