    Double Bass Lightweight gear

I play guitar and sing in a honky-tonk/rockabilly band (as well as play upright in two other bands). On my pedal board I always carry a Tech21 Blonde pedal. It ws there "just in case" but about a month ago my '57 ProAmp decided to blow the fuse and make burning smells. I plugged the Blonde...

Double Bass 3/4 '59 Kay case size

I have an Upton standard and it came with the Upton "De La Ville" bag. I'm pretty sure it will fit an old Kay.

Double Bass G-K MB150S Cabinet Rattle

I imagine if that speaker gasket goes it would make quite a racket. There are actually a couple areas where you could get noises. They use foam tape all over. Well, welding won't do. At the factory, they must weld the cabinet seams from the outside and grind away the excess to make the cabinet...

Double Bass G-K MB150S Cabinet Rattle

Thanks for the input/ideas. When using the amp at shows (without a large PA) I always use the extension cab. I play in a trio or four-piece with electric guitar and drums. So far it has had enough umph to keep up and sound good (except when the cabinet rattles). I work in the car business and...

Double Bass G-K MB150S Cabinet Rattle

I have an older (2002) MB150S and the other night I was getting a metallic rattle when pushing the amp. In a previous thread dylanjohnson had mentioned his did something similar. I checked all the screws and they were tight. I took the amp apart and here is what I found; The seam in...

    Double Bass battery powered amp

I've been using Carvin Stagemate for lots of things (bass included). It is 100 watts w/four input mixer. It uses a 12v battery (I put two in all of mine) and will drive an extension cabinet. I use them for my PA and monitors in bars. A few weeks ago I had to use them as stage monitors on an...

Double Bass Roading in the car

I live in the desert and my bass is in a hot vehicle a lot. There can be a big difference between indoors (a/c) and outside/car. There is no way around it (if i wanna play)! I have a ply with guts and I've never had any problems. I unbag it when I get to the venue to allow the bass temp to equal...

    Double Bass taping your fingers?

When I tape, I use waterproof first aid tape (the white stuff). I put two strips down from the tip (one front to back and other 90 dgrees to that). Then wrap around near the first and second knuckle. It stays put.

Double Bass CCB's - Owners Reviews

I was satisfied with mine for what it was but... I knew it was not a quality instrument (even though I didn't really have anything to compare it too-my friend's Cremona?). You could clearly see how little love the builder had for it. I still played the hell out of it and gigged with it. Folks...

Double Bass CCB's - Owners Reviews

This is a little off topic but...I've got experience with two different CCBs. My first bass was a CCB, it is now in the hands of a friend (and he enjoys it). I bought it new. It has ebony bits (fb, nut). It is still together and playing but it did need a lot of set-up work. The level of...

    Double Bass Portable Battery Amp?

I've used the CARVIN Sategmate for UB and slab. Its a 4-channel 100 watt PA in a 10" horn-loaded cab. I use it as my PA/monitors for my bands. I've used it for outdoor battery-powered gigs. I use two of them and two extension cabs for mains and monitors. I use a seperate one for bass. It...

Double Bass GUTS ARE SO MUCH FUN!!!

The gamuts on mine were really long. With guts there isn't much room for overlap and I was reluctant to cut them. It took several tries but I got them on the tuner peg with no overlap (and not jammed against the pegbox). The excess I pulled through (with a hook) and made into loops that are...

Double Bass In Car ALL Day?

Mine doesn't stay in the car. I don't trust it and in these parts things die in vehicles. I bring mine into a lot of places. It is a great conversation piece. I've actually made some money by having it with me. I was in a bar having a beer and someone asked if I could play it. I pulled it...
