    I had a cheap ($200) Fender for awhile - stayed in tune (sorta) and didn't sound bad. That's the thing about cheap mandolins - won't stay in tune.

    I'm gonna guess that you're trying to do a lot more with your right hand than you have to (they're not plucking every note - not even close). Try playing the lines with just your left hand. Work on hammers and pulls. Pluck only the notes you have to. Faster. Smoother. Easier. Oh, and btw...

    I play with folk singer-songwriter types who sometimes capo the first fret and play in D, which puts the tonic at Eb. That leaves four options: play up the neck, play below the tonic, buy a five-string or drop tune. Actually, there's a fifth option but unfortunately it's illegal to kill...

    No. It's just like playing a regular harmonic except that, assuming that you're right-handed, your left hand fretting the note replaces the nut. Your right thumb replaces the finger that you'd lay lightly on the string and the finger you pluck with is the finger you pluck with. The trick is...
