What I don't understand is his muting. When you see him play the solo with mike stern for example, how does he prevent the low strings from rumbling :confused: anyone knows? He keeps his thumb anchored on the pickup at all times. Dennis

good tip: Load your mp3 into a recording program like audacity or cubase. Now transpose the song an octave. It helps!

Have you tried transcribing other people's versions of the songs? It sound simple enough, but there are so many players that have good ideas you can make your own and use them!

sing! Whenever I solo I sing. It helps to connect my ideas to my instrument and at the same time build in breathing time. Learn your modes. I sometimes pop it when I play a double stop. For example, I pop the G on the E string and the Bb on the G string. I pop the Bb with my index and pop the G by sticking my thumg under it and pulling it up.
