I'm about to head out from Oshkosh. I'll probably stop somewhere along the way to get a bite to eat. I'll be bringing my GK MB115 and my P bass knock-off... Feel free to point and laugh at my bass.

Entropy, free energy and equilibrium. Possibly cell energetics. Fun with general chemistry and cell/molecular biology. These school shenanigans are really cutting into my bass practice time, though. Even after quitting my job I still find myself strapped for time. :bawl:

I'm 33 and I've been taking lessons since late May of this year. There's no such thing as being too old to learn something. Age may make the learning process take longer, but you can still learn if you're willing to work at it. As for feeling out of place: you'll feel out of place until...

I still plan on showing up for the GTG. If I wind up with my nose in a textbook for half of the time it's only because my course load this semester is not being kind to me.

That's my own lack of eloquence. What he wants, ideally, is as little movement of the whole hand up and down the neck to play those four frets. Obviously, there will have to be some movement when you've got small hands on a large bass. Less whole hand movement should allow for faster fretting...

The soreness seems mainly in the muscles, a little in the connective tissues between the metacarpals for the ring and pinky. The connective tissue soreness is most likely from the stretching. The past 5 or 6 weeks have been material primarily using the 2nd to 5th frets. My instructor keeps...

I wouldn't consider myself a bassist yet. I'm only four months in... Give me another year of lessons and maybe I'll consider myself a bassist. Right now I'd say I'm a wanna-be. Just a question, and maybe no one else experienced this early on but: how long does it take to get past the insane...

Wesz, Will you have computer access when you're in Afghanistan? And if so, will you have access to a webcam and Skype (or another video capable IM program)? If so, you may be able to arrange webcam lessons with the instructor you find back home. I'm pretty new to bass, and my weekly lessons...

This puts some of my anxieties to rest. I'll probably be the greenest at the GTG, but I'm comfortable with that so long as everyone else is fine with it too. I'm sure there will be an ample demand to try out my knock-off P bass. :rolleyes:
