Right, but my issue is when I must turn the effect on or off, there is such a change in low end and volume that it never feels like the same preset and would require extra work before a live gig to make sure it is leveled, I would be scared to switch the effect everytime if not

When I started bass, I used to break the 2nd or 1st string 3-4 times a year. Most likely due to poor technique when slapping and a lot of slapping. I broke a string with a pick once on stage. But we were playing punk music, ripped the string away and kept playing, no one noticed hahaha.
