The cheap electronics are fine for me. I'd only replace them if they broke.
Then you would have liked the Fender Precision Jr - no longer in production - that is the same scale and did not have a tone pot apparently.
Well i'm happy that they released the squier one. Discovered it few days before xmas eve while visiting local music store and bought it to myself as a present.

Yep, if it works, don't fix it.
Small pots function equally as well as larger ones [electronics was my earlier career].
There can be better and worse quality of them in any size of housing.
Other than the pickups [if I did not like their sound], the only electronics which I MIGHT change on an instrument is the jack, if I did not think that it felt secure.
And that would matter more if it was located on the edge of the body, rather than on the top.

I finally received my pickguard from the ebay store that was linked in this thread. It took about two weeks to arrive from the UK, I live in the US.
The packaging was good, there is a return label and a sticker telling you to keep the plastic film on before trying it in case of return.
When trying mine, two issues came up:
- The cutout for the pickups was too small. There is no play nor margin to move the pickguard around the pickups, I grabbed a round and a flat file and did the adjustments. It seems that I only had to grind a bit off the small pickup sides (see yellow marks on photo below). It took me 20 minutes overall.
- One hole was missing below the two knobs. While it is more pleasing to the eye, the pickguard is not completely against the bass, so I had to drill that hole myself, that took me less than 5 minutes.
The product is beautiful and the bass looks a tons better to me now. I got "vintage red tortoise", just the pickup cutouts and that one hole were an issue, but while I was able to fix it, I wanted to warn this group in case you don't want to deal with this. The neck pocket and other curves were perfect, which is harder to fix by hand.
I am sure I could have retuned the product for a better fitted one, but I didn't want to wait a month or so.
I will send the seller a message describing the above in hopes he gets the next ones better.

Thanks for letting us know, I think this will be a benefit to several. Your bass looks great with that tort on black! The fact that you are taking the time to send product feedback to them is also a major plus. With many of the small sellers, they don't know if there's a problem with a product unless someone takes the time to clue them in.

Indeed....thanks for the detailed review, Diver. The pickguard is spot-on and looks great aesthetically, so hopefully they'll be able to make a few minor tweaks and improvements.
I bought the same color pickguard for my shell pink Bronco. It fits perfectly. The Mini P is rather new so they haven't had enough feedback. Good on you for providing it to the seller. I'm sure they'll make it right. I think these are all built to order.

Fyi, The vendor already replied, asked me for measurements, which I provided and he compensated me for my time, which is very nice as I didn't ask for anything.
He should now be able to update his template as indeed his specs for the pickup hole were a millimeter too tight each way.
Wow, this is the type of customer support that makes me want to buy from them just for that!
Still trying to decide between Black or Red for my bass. I suppose the pickguard choices may tend to push my decision one way or the other...

Absolutely. I'll also add that I asked about all of the various shades of "white" and "tort" and I got a really nice image of each variety showing, what is...as far as I can tell...one of the most comprehensive varieties of "shades" of white from pure white all the way to cream (with a variety of eggshell/parchment/mint in-between), as well as a nice variety of red and brown tort options.
It seems many of you here who own the Mini P also own the Bronco.
I do have a Bronco as well and I also have a Mustang PJ, so I do not really need another bass, but I am about to add the Mini P to my arsenal.
So may I ask, if you who have both the Mini and the Bronco were to keep only ONE bass between the Mini P or the Bronco, which one would you keep and why?
I know we are talking low budget basses, and yes this is the Mini P Club, anyway I am just curious how these two little basses compare and which of the two could be "the winner".

I bought the Bronco because the Mini is just too small for the stage and the low E sounds a bit weird (Chromes). Also the Bronco is pink
I was right, the low E on the Bronco sounds better because of the longer scale. Same strings. However it's no substitute for the Mini.
The Mini is a tiny version of my main P but it has a much deeper sound. Also the floppy strings have an interesting hollow sound that I enjoy, even with the weird low E. And the split pickup sounds so fat. I don't need the Vintage button on my Rumble with the Mini, it's that deep.
The Bronco is my pick bass for aggressive tones and faster playing, mostly for surf. Ideally it would have rounds but I can't stand them. The stock pickup is very clear but needs heavy EQ to sound fat. Different beast. I can't see myself playing funk on the Bronco, it sounds like a J bass with the neck pickup soloed but with more hum and less bass.
Please don't make me choose, I need both.
I'd keep the Harley Benton Shorty, obviously! It's a back routed Bronco body with a split coil and a rosewood fretboard... a mashup of the two.
